    Default 50's masamura from sandsmuseum

so here are some first pix before cleaning. this single shot is similar to the matoya that I bought in new york, but has a smoother operating mechanism.

the cell is also much nicer. it looks to be painted, then has a sheet of opaque plastic over the paint (like microbus did!). there are crackles in the paint under the plastic sheet, but they are protected and almost look like a texturing design.

the pockets do not have tulips, and they are cast out of metal with a little more detail than the usual stamped, chrome plated ones. 3 key nails are missing, so someone was cheating.

the painting for the lettering is much more professional, too.

either they got better over time, or masamura was a more expensive model than matoya (like cadillac vs. yugo).

I suppose if this was a masamura, of gauge fame, then maybe he made the best machines?

also, I wonder why the upper tray is so small and triangle shaped instead of rectangular. would need more of those ball girls to refill.

I gotta get the other shelves up to start the 40's, 50's section.

that is truly a rare and extremely interesting vintage

I love how the the tulips / pockets are styled, I guess they aren't really tulips, so I shouldn't call them that, to me they seem reminiscent of classic cars

Awesome machine! I like those jackpot pockets made of the heavier metal.

Love the look of that machine.

How many does it pay out at each win? maybe when that machine was in use the parlors were small and didn't need many refill girls, or the machine was so tight that it didn't need filled so often (missing pins)

    great find!!
