Very nice machines. I just fixed up a World Ski machine. The center "ski jump" on that one is cool. I had to tear the back completely apart to free up the mechanism that opens all tulips when you get a ball in the dead center of the "jump". Works great now.
Do you know how many directions 500 steel balls can go on a tile floor...

Was it your's ?? If so, hang on to it. This machine is worth as least US$1000 in Japan and is considered very collectable and quite rare.

Yes, it is mine. I was thinking of selling it to a neighbor. Not now. It is in really good shape, some water stains. The nails are pretty cruddy & need to be polished. At least it all works now (after many hours yesterday fighting with it).

How do you know that t is so rare? It was the first one I had seen when I bought it.

I'll contact you privately about how I know this - I have your email address from our previous correspondence so will get in touch now and send you the evidence.

Suffice to say - I have written proof of it's worth in the Japanese market. So hang on to this one - you won't regret it.

    GB -

The value of that machine appears to have canceled out what you paid for your Power Flash!

    Way to recover!!

    Recover

I have no problem with the price of my PF. It is a pristine machine that I enjoy very much. I don't worry about things like that...

Sounds good - contact me when you have a chance. I was not questioning the validity of the information - just curious...

No, of course. But anyone can claim to have information, and claim about prices (especially if self-interested, or commercially motivated). So I wanted to make sure that I backed up my claim with cold facts. You have those in your mailbox now.

I don't want to talk about prices too much. Pachinko collecting in any country but Japan is in this beautiful, seminal, naiive phase where values are super low and the machine is valued for its play and construction, most. Before long (and how long is anyone's guess) it'll be all about rarity and who has the most valuable machines and so on and so on.. you all know how it goes.

On the other hand, I just didn't want him to give his machine away - especially one like this that has real intrinsic value and is a hard-to-find example of what many Japanese collectors obviously consider a lynchpin of the development of early machines.

Yes, I am aware how contradictory that last statement is... I am human like everyone else, in the end... I do value rarity and history, but I also want to live in a Fairty-tale land where that doesn't matter at all and its just about fun rather than pricing...

Dammit - strangled by own contradictions!!!

Exclamation Re: New gallery of Vintage machine

I have just added the values, as of the year 2000, from my japanese collectors source, for what each of these machines was worth in Japan into the Comments section of each photo.

For some of you, might be worth sending a few back on the boat towards the ol' home country!!

I am trying to show the center of my Nishin machines. I hope that they go thru. I bought both of these for $ 75.00 for both.
