Default Repaired front ball tray finished product

    Ok Guys,

This isnt perfect but it will do.

It's certainly better than the 2 pieces I was holding in my hand after the guy I bought it from broke it carrying it to my car. Yes, I was Pi$$ed.

I couldnt find the corner of the tray near the "N" and had to recreate it. This took many hours to do and several "retrys" after it would break in my hand while working on it. Model glue just wasnt strong enough. It did however hold it together while I reinforced it with epoxy and bondo.

I dont have any pictures of the broken pieces before I started working on it because I didnt think to document this repair. Lets just say I was too much in a hurry to make it better again.

Let me know what you think?

I used a plastic "adhesion promoter" by Duplicolor and "Tropical Turquoise" enamel from Hobby Lobby. Yes its completely repainted.

There are many coats of both on here. I sanded between coats. Probably 3 of the primer and 5 of the color. Its pretty solid.

It wont scratch with a finger nail. We'll see how it holds up over the long term.

Wow that must have been really disappointing when the guy broke it,

But you've certainly made an excellent job of repairing it

    Looks great!!

If you didn't tell me it was broken, I wouldn't know. I'll bet even up close no one would notice. Excellent work.

Very impressive!!! Just goes to show that pretty much any repair can be made to these machines with some ingenuity.

No, I used epoxy putty for the corner and fiberglass Bondo for the top/inside of the tray for reinforcement. Just gluing the pieces together will not hold.

You could probably plastic weld it as well but you would still need to sand it down, use a filler, and repaint. Thanks for the compliment!
