Update: I was waiting on my tumbler to come in to clean the metal parts and resume work. I ended up buying a 6 quart Thumler tumbler. Did a great job and though pricey, is very quiet and of industrial qualty. So after disassembly and cleaning all the metal parts and electrical parts, I put it all back together. I was originally debating on whether or not to redo the playfield (a la vinyl decal) but since there are graphics on it I just decided to clean it up. The signs of age adds to the character, anyway. So now what remains is to do the purely cosmetic cleaning, polishing the plastic parts, cleaning the cel, and metal polishing.
I did notice a small black switch on the right side of the circuit board (see pic). Not sure what it does so maybe someone here has an idea.
An interesting part of this machine are the red plastic ball guides on the lower part of the playfield. If you look at the mounting screw hole it is actually a slot to allow the owner to move guide to either let the ball go itnto the ball return or go into the adjacent pocket. There is also a hole there on each side where a brass nail went. Keeping those holes open definitely extends game play as many of the balls go into the returns to be played again.
By the way another useful tool are stripped/ruined screw removal bits!!! This is not the first machine that I've worked on where some previous owner messed up the screws while trying to take off parts. To make sure all the lights and contacts were working properly I put a ball in each pocket and it paid out 15 tokens. Pretty cool.

Hmmm good luck! They are hard to find and very much sought after. Plus I think and it does seem that far fewer Arepachis were imported when compared to "regular" vintage pachinkos.
