    good luck to ya
Thats what I was going to suggest as well. Reglue the frame together. Dont be afraid of it. Just study it for awhile and take alot of picture before disassembly. Also dont be in a rush either!!

hey sphere. don't worry about the broken glass. it's no big deal. I have had shippers say they didn't want to send the machine with glass, in case it got broken. I tell them don't worry about it. you can replace with acrylic or get the local hardware store to cut you a piece. should be less than 10 bucks.

on the frame wobbling, I find that odd. I can't say that I have had a wobbly frame in my 30 something machines. did someone mess with the corner brackets or screws?

for the short run, you could make knee braces at the four corners out of some scraps of wood. it will be on the back and won't show. a strip of 1/4 inch thick wood, 4-5 inches long, with a screw at each end into the wood frame near each corner (making the hypotenuse of an isosceles triangle), should make the frame rigid.

you could also use screw eyes and wire to make tension wires.

then you have time to decide if you want to replace the frame, or maybe make a nice cabinet/case.

    have fun with your machine!

It's too bad you don't live a little closer to me! I'm just south of Wichita on I35. If you have reason to come up here you could stop by and we'd fix your frame. I also have a Nishijin A identical to yours. It looks to me like you just need to reinforce the frame, replace the broken glass with plexiglass and give it a good cleaning!

Don't hesitate to drop me an email if you're up this way!!

Great looking machine!I have found that making the parts you have stronger is easier than starting from scratch.Let us see what method you decide on.

due to having wobbly frames on 2 of my vintage pachis I removed all the nails from the frames and replaced them with screws. took the sway out of the joints and I didn't even need to predrill thanks to the holes from the nails being there already

On it, thanks all for your suggestions, I took the main body out of the frame and looking over it. taking it apart and using wood glue could do the trick and bracets along with it should make it super sturdy. Let you know on my progress.

you can put pressure after glueing on the top to bottom and side to side with heavy twine

use a dowl or pencil to wind up the twine, like a model airplane rubberband.

then place it in position so they will not unwind by themselves

i have a old ratchet strap and a few blocks of wood that work great..

if your using blocks of wood keep them out of the glue

Ok, boy what a month. Before I didn't have much to do then I have too much to do. Anyways i'm updated my progress on my Nishijin vintage so you can see where I am. Been spending half my time getting my pics in order, so here we go.

First the frame, I took the frame apart, marking the corners so I know which goes where, wood puddy in the holes, glued, screwed and straped it to keep it in place.

Next I worked on cleaning the metal parts off the frame and I see what shocksystem was talking about with CLR and air contact and stuff. But after I dried the parts I used Brasso to go over them and oohhh sooo nice.

Put the parts back with the frame and she be real strudy I say.

Well now for the fun part, I was debating on rather or not to clean the parts on the machine or off, then I saw how I took off one of the brackets for the front and realized that I can't get it back on tight unless i take off the lower ball tray trim. So it kinda made my decision easy: "It comes off".

My plan for this is refurbish this puppy, nothin fancy. It looks to be in good shape with the exception of some things in the back that need some work. So no worries, no franken-pachi on this one.

Just cleaning parts and learning what goes where, that's all.
