I wonder if Paypal would cover the loss if you used them to pay??

I actually have yet to buy a pachinko from my own state! Well I have bought one but that was one I picked up locally. So yes there are some people out to get you but after you talk with sellers on the phone then it is just a judgement call on your part. But as I said I have yet to have any problems. As a matter of fact, I just got an email from the Arepachi seller with the tracking number. Should be here Monday.
I don't know if there is any recourse with PayPal if you get ripped off. That's a good question.

Got back in town to find the adhesive mylar waiting for me! Progress can finally resume!! Ok, it came on white backing paper. To apply it I took a razor blade and cut only thru the backing from side to side a strip about 3 inches from the end and removed the backing. This is the strip that I first adhered to the surface. From there squeegeeing as I went, I pulled away the backing while laying down the mylar. Pretty easy and took maybe 10 minutes. It is a stiffer material than the vinyl so the problem with bubbles and wrinkles is much less. In fact, I had no bubbles or wrinkles at all and I laid it down fairly quickly.
So here's a pic with the mylar on and the parts back on. I somehow lost a few of the tiny nails that hold the fixtures on so I am on a search for those. Now the process of replacing all the nails!! Hopefully I'll have it totally completed by week's end.

    Hi John,

Glad to finally see the finished product!

So what thickness did you end up with on the mylar?

I found small brass nails at ACE hardware that exactly the same as the originals.

    Happy for you!!

Thanks for the info on the nails!!! I'll check there tomorrow-I just misplaced mine but if I can get new ones that would be great. The thickness I used is .002" from plazaart.com.
    Thanks again!!

You should be concerned with buying on Craigs list and using paypal. I bought from a private vendor and paypal told me their guarantee was only good with ebay. After talking to a supervisor and explainning that I had not got the item the money was finally refunded. The lady at paypal told me they were hoping to change the rules and insure every purchase.
Needless to say it was touch and go for awhile. I sure other people have had worse and better results with paypal. I have over two hundred and fifty purchases with them and that had been my only problem.

Very good info indeed! However I would not have gotten 3 Power Flashes and 2 Arepachi's if I didn't want to assume some risk. Plus to be honest, it's the best way to find machines before others do and not have to worry about bidding and losing an auction for a highly desirable machine, i.e. $1000.00 PF on eBay!!! I am sure in the future I will get burned at some point but to me it's definitely worth the risk especially in light of the hard-to-find machines I have managed to obtain.
P.S. My latest CraigsList find (Arepachi) will be here tomorrow with pics to follow.

Overall it's been much easier than I thought. I haven't had a frustrating or difficult time so far. The one hiccup was the non-adhesive mylar and having to take off some items I had already installed but still no biggy. The sticky mylar went on so easy and smooth that it made up for time lost.
The project just takes time and a few tools. Speaking of tools I highly recommend a nail bending tool or simply making one for nail installation. Also, I mine I wrapped a piece of electrical tape around the tool to function as a nail depth gauge. Now I didn't put the nails back in the same holes and some were bent from pulling them out. They actually spin as they get hammered back in thanks to the spiral cuts on them. No worries though if they don't line up with their brothers. It's a snap with the tool to get them as they should be plus I have a gauge with a pachinko ball on either end. One in standard size and one slightly oversize so you can make your game easy or hard.
The tracks were not too bad either. To put them back in squeeze the two free ends of the track wire together to make as small a cross section as possible and take a safety or stick pin or similar and insert that thru the back of the playfield and pierce the front vinyl/mylar or whatever u used. That way you can see exactly where the track wires go and insert the wires in the holes. Once all are started get some needlenose pliers and grab the track wire about 1/8th inch give or take above the playfield and push. If u grab too much higher than that the wire will bend. Just do that at each wire up and down the track. Once the ends protrude out the back grab those ends with pliers and pull once again from end to end until it's fully seated.
The only thing I would do different is try a slide hammer to pull the nails out with. I think they will come out straight and less wear on the wrist.

Ok, finally got all the nails in. I should have all those polished and the machine completely reassembled by this evening.

Allright party people it's done. Well save for some nail tweaking, repainting the "It's a beautiful day" quote above the extra ball tray, and hopefully getting some new stickers for the tulips.
