Default Free Heiwa aluminum frames (broken) in Northern CA

I've got a couple of Heiwa aluminum frames that broke during their shipment to me. They apparently don't do well without a fair amount of padding at their corners when shipping.

They both have the tops broken (one completely off and one at the top corner), but I thought I'd check to see if anyone can use them before I see if they have any value as scrap metal.

They are stripped down, so they are most likely to be of use to someone who already has one in much worse shape.

I've attached a couple of pictures of the breaks so you can get an idea of what might be involved in repair. I'm in the Central Valley, about an hour from the Bay Area or Sacramento.

    Ouch!

I'm looking at my Maharaja now and that is a very strong looking metal part at the top, must have taken quite a battering for that to break
    ...

Would be a shame to have to scrap them, so I do hope someone can put them to good use

Pretty sure it's just the weight of the game when dropped on an unprotected corner from UPS standard height (the top of the truck?) that does this damage since I have nearly identical damage on three of them.

wow. you must have a really mean UPS driver/route people, if they're dropping your pachi's on their heads off the trucks!

I mark mine "this side up, please", and pack vertically, though I don't know if it makes a difference.

also, at least for my deliveries, fedex seems to take better care of the packages than UPS.

Fortunately I was sent replacement frames, so the broken ones are just taking up space now.

It all depends on the individually driver of the delivery company as to if it is a crap shoot weather the machine gets damaged on route to you on the day it gets delivered. If you have a good route driver and they know what it is they will probably not get dropped off the back of the truck. If not well you watch them back in, open the door and drop it off the end of the truck as you are going up to the truck. Then you say they are not leaving till you unpack it in front of them. Then you point out the damage, things get a bit tense, and you want to talk to there boss.

Don't think it was my route drivers as I watched them remove all 3 games from the trucks and the damage also wasn't obvious until opening the boxes. I think the damage probably happened earlier in their journey from the North.

Yes, the end driver is only one in a long chain of it's an over sized box, lets just roll, slide, drop, and I'm sure kick.

UPS is one of the worst shippers to use for heavy items. They will drop your machine to break the frame, the glass, even knock the electronics loose enough that your led's need re-soldering!

The biggest shipper is the worst! This is the American Trade Mark of Success! We are soooo big, that we don't care about where all of our success came from, The Consumer!
