Default ID Help for me please (Ultraman E1 Error and Reset)

    Hello everyone, I am Traijin.

I am completely new to this whole thing so please bear with me.

I picked up a pachislo machine at a garage sale for very little. I may have bitten off more than I can chew, but I do enjoy complicated projects. Of course it did not come with any keys, either door or reset. Assuming it needs two keys.

The machine has a flying megaman looking fellow on the front. He is wearing a yellow suit and has a bug eye thing going. The only English I can readily see is "Ultimate Power of the M-78" I also see "Banpresto" and assume that is the mfg. There is what looks like a model number: S-4-38.

Can any of this info lead to me finding replacement keys?

    Thanks for any help.

    Traijin

    Welcome

Someone may own that machine and be able to recognize it from your description but It would be a lot easier if you could please post a picture.
When you respond to a post use the paperclip in the top menu to add a photo.

You can de-pin the front door lock and add a rocker switch for the reset.
Can you get the machine open, if so does it power up. Also is there a error code showing on the front lcd readout?
    The more pictures the better.
    Good luck

The "Ultimate Power of the M-78" says Ultraman to me.

Yup, Ultra Man is it... Bravo. I did not remember the image correctly, the flying fellow was whit with yellow eyes. Looking at the above link, it is Ultra man.

So, with it being identified, is it worth finding the keys or should I just drill out the hinges. I have decent machine/hardware skills. When I plug the machine in, I get no response, so I hope the LCD is lit on the inside.

don't drill the hinges, see if you can reach in the hole in the bottom and move the rod that hooks the door latches together.

then you can remove the lock and dismantle it to remove the pins so it will not need a key.

Okay, I got the case open by manipulating the latch. I turned on the power switch. Light came on and juice is running to the speakers. It is displaying E1 as an error code. I located the reset key location and switch. I do not have a reset key, is there a way to jump it? What is E1?

    Thanks

I poked around for awhile with the machine last night. I need to know more about the reset key and what to do. I do not get any clicking from the coin ramp and no movement in the hopper. I cleaned up everything, but the electromagnet on the coinhopper is not activated and the token just drops through. Whenever I say coin, I mean token. Not sure what to do next, so I have uploaded a bunch of pictures.

    Thanks

E-1 is usually a hopper error.
There is a sensor where the coins are spit out. I've found everything from
plastic beads to balls of cat fur. I don't have that type of hopper. When you cleaned the machine were you able to break the hopper down so you could see the sensor?

I not sure but I think you just need to get the reset key working.
I've had machines give me a E-1 error when they have sat for a while in storage.
Have you tried to lock pick the reset.(see if you can get it to turn to the right)
You may need to install a switch.
There are just two wire leads to the reset. Installing a new switch just turns it on and off.
What does the flip switch do highlighted in yellow (hopper dump?)
I was hoping a reset switch was already installed.
Try turning the machine off(with the on/off switch) then flip the switch highlighted in yellow . Then turn the machine back on. Are there any numbers displayed on the front where the E-1 was showing.
If so tap the spin knob down the flip the switch in yellow again(keeping the machine on)
Just trying to eliminate all the easy fixes first.

I'll try everything you said, however the switch next to the reset key is spring loaded. I have tried turning the machine on and off while holding the switch in an open or closed position. But I did not get any result. I was beginning to think that the reset procedure would be to turn the key then action the switch.

I slid the hopper clear of the machine body. It has a plastic tray that feeds down to a revolving 4 hole carousel. When I move the carousel by hand with tokens in the holes I can see a token bounce as it goes over a location. But I still don't grasp how the token dispensing is supposed to work. Is a token bounced into a dispensing ramp? I will take some more pictures of what I don't understand. Either way, I did not see anything resembling a sensor by the hopper.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Worth a shot~ but now that you said it spring-loaded it's probably a switch to change the odd's. Which only work in reset mode.

Have you solder before?. A reset switch is like a light switch. On/Off
Not very complicated. It's hard to find one which fits the hole. I've used silicon to hold it in place and/or electrical tape to hold in place.
Try removing this screw, there may be more? can't tell from the pic's.
See if you can get into the reset box. The lock may have to drilled.
    In addition,
If you can remove the front door lock and post a pic of the whole cylinder
I'll try to guide you through de-pinning process. Again not that hard if you have a drill and get yourself some steel puddy

Yeah, I pulled that screw last night. The reset switch box is connected to a backer plate the runs down 8 inches. A PCB is attached to the backer plate by plastic pins. I could get the assembly out, but I would need to remove a wheel to get access. Is not that difficult to remove a wheel?

Some have quick release pins but I think yours has a a couple or screws and terminal connections.
They should each just slid out.(make sure you keep them order left to right or however you take them out)

Yellow screws~might be some on top

    Just some missing keys.
Why do folks ever remove the reset key.
Even when I transport a machine I use some puddy tac to secure the key. the kind which comes right off and can be used again.

Just wanted you to see what a rocker switch was and how it's installed.
    Here's a link.(example)
    Google Image Result for http://ledmods.co.uk/images/led_rocker_switch_diagram.jpeg
You probably don't have a ground wire and there are countless switches you can find.
I'd still try to make it turn with another key or even a screwdriver. But if you must It's not a hard fix.

The system is 100% operational as of last night. A screwdriver worked wonders with the reset switch. This is the first machine I have ever messed with, it was a lot of fun to hit the Ultraman Triple 7 and watch the machine go bonkers.

Thanks for all the help. Just some clean up and a rest put it in business. You folks have been a bunch of help and thank you.
