the solenoids need DC, if the power flash has the rectifier then a ac power supply is fine but it needs dc at the solenoids or they won't work

Mopar, sorry - yes they had gutted all the wiring including the j-box with the rectifier. I have the parts now to make up a j-box, but I was looking for a straight dc power supply as an alternative. Luckily, I got a freebie. As you said, it is a little large though. It works great, though.

At one point in time, I was searching for a power supply to fix up a Power Flash.

Although it is pretty easy to build your own rectifier (4 diodes, and maybe a cap or two), I found that my old laptop power supply worked perfectly.

I found a laptop power supply in my garage that was rated as 19v, 3.5 amps. It tested at 21v.

Computer power supplies put out very clean steady DC.
If anyone is interested, heres a good article about how a rectifier works.

hey mopar, the other pachinkos, except PF and arepachi, can run off AC, since light bulbs don't care about plus and minus.

the solenoids need DC, so you'll find a rectifier to change from AC to DC somewhere on the board. in the PF, it's hidden in the J box. I didn't realize it until johnny showed me. if you look closely, there must be a 4 diode bridge on your arepachi's, too.

hey lasse - I posted youtube videos where you can see the PF in action

see post 10 of this link, my work computer won't let me go to youtube.

    yeppers...

now i rember the chat in another post about this.. like i said i dident relize the rectifier was gone.. my model "B" "circuit racer" has a solonoid in it .. and a rectifier as well...

have not spend allot of time working on the power flash just yet... been concentrating on how to redo the cell ..

    hey mopar,

why don't you do it like microbus did, and use a solid sheet of paper that is blue/green. it won't require much prep work on the wood b/c the paper covers it.

put a piece of acetate and nail all the stuff back. you don't even have to cut out blobs on a PF background!
