My oldest brother wrote a book a few years back and its on Amazon

he was onboard ship in the Normandy invasion during WWII

he is in his 80's now and living in Long Island N.Y.

He's also played trombone all his life, he got a 4 year High school scolarship at a catholic high school in Chicago for playing in school band.
when he was in the navy he played in a naval band.
he also has played trombone for many years in the local Mineola orchestra.

he retired many years ago from the phone company where he started as a lineman and retired as an engineer managing a whole dept. in the main building by times square.

I emailed my brother today about the book, we haven't really kept in very good touch. here's his reply

"HiPaul

I hope that you enjoy.my book. I tried to keep it interesting and readable, not like many history books. After all it is my memoir.

When we had liberty we really spent every cent we had because we knew we’d be shipping out and did not know if we would make it back.




By the way, I do not drink any hard liquor at all and maybe a glass of wine once a month or on a special occasion. I follow a healthy whole grain diet and stay away from any white breads, white pasta, cookies candies cakes or desserts. I pick on a lot of fruits. I started smoking when I was 21 but not heavily and quit cold turkey at 47. I take no prescription or over the counter drugs except for 81mg enteric aspirin.I take vitamins and go to Gold’s gym 4 days a week in THE SILVER SNEAKERS PROGRAM. Every two weeks I get a massage at MASSAGE ENVY that they say builds the immune system. I still drive and live by myself do my own cooking, laundry and housecleaning. I enjoy my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I write, play my trombone and am responsible for my dog, Lucky and my cockatiel CHI-CHI.





By changing my diet over the last 2 years I went from 235lbs to 200lbs and ended up buying new clothes to fit me.




God has blessed me and I believe that I survived to write my book and let the truth be known.

Next month I’ll be 86 and if I’m going to make it to a 100, I want to be a healthy 100. Every moment is precious at any stage of life."

well, I just finished my brother's book today. it kept my intrest up and was well written, I'm sure he added a little here and there to make it more intresting

He had an exciting and rough 6 years in the navy and almost got his ship sunk under him, I'm glad it wasn't me.

its a part of his life i've never known of till now, all i knew up till now, was that he was in the navy during WWII

when he was discharged, he lived in New York from then on with his wife, the only time i saw him was when we visited his family and his family visited ours.
