You see a lot of vintages up for prices like that, but rarely do they sell.

that one has a ball lifter and no plastic, but similar empty to upper tray made of cast aluminum

YIKES! I just realized the starting price is $1,650... not $165 like I thought at first. I'd be surprised if anyone bought it for that price, but it does mean that mine is worth at least a couple hundred...

No you were right about OHIO.

I asked how much to ship but never worked it out with him.

I am glad you got them

I probably wouldn't have wanted to pay the shipping anyway.

    Great find.

well, I did not mind the extra adventure, but my wife grumbled a bit.

cost me $30 in materials, one scrap of masonite from an alley, and a lot of creative cutting, taping and then schlepping...

if you try to get a shipping place to pack a pachinko for you, assuming you can find one willing to do it, they charge about $50 per machine.

when I shipped home a machine from san diego (another vacation pachinko find), we took the jaws machine to at least 3 shops. they saw us coming and said "no way".

it really annoyed me to have to pay $15 for cardboard and $10 for bubble wrap, but finding a box that big in provincetown was not going to be easy. bicycle shops have nice ones, sometimes the large TV sellers, Uhaul is supposed to have nice boxes, and once a machine was shipped to me in a wheelchair box!

that's funny that it was both OHIO and IOWA... maybe I am not as geographically impaired as I thought. this trip was great for me to learn where LOTS of cities in the northeast are located.

my plan is to fix the better of the two machines, then sell the other (probably without restoration).

so, I have a feeling that another pachitalker will own one of these in time, too!

Let us know when you plan to sell, and the old owner messaged me about speaking with you in regards to pacitalk when you called him. LOL It's a small world afterall...especially in pachinko world...

they got picked up monday and left willington connecticut today... is that a really small town? I don't think I have heard of it before... the pachi's are on a truck to the west coast now... won't arrive until 17th... keeping fingers crossed...

at least there's no breakable plastic trays on a machine this old. only the tin in the back to get squashed... hey eddie, did you ever refurbish that machine from the 40's that had all the tin flattened? if so, did you take the pieces off and use steel wool to get rust off? do you use oil or some polish to protect from rerusting??? maybe jeff knows? anyone clear coated with acrylic or other plastic spray on the inside to seal the tin?

Fed Ex? Yeah, there's a distribution center there, not a lot else except a truck stop. Spent plenty of time there, not many TS in Ma, so it was the closest place to stay. Rode my scooter up and down a lot of those roads (too much time on my hands )

    Chewy-

I have been using several techniques to remove the rust from the tin on sharmoni's machine. I started with a bath of hot water and CLR, soaking for 20-30 minutes. I then pulled them out and dried them in the sun really well. Next I used a combination of #1 steel wool and narrow wire brushes (Home Depot paint isle) to remove the pitting. I am using a Dremel with an assortment of wire brush tips in the ball path channels to clean out all of the rust from the tracks.

It's tedious work, but worth the effort!!

As for the clear coat, I personally wouldn't use it. Once you get the tin all cleaned up it should stay in pretty good shape as long as you don't expose it to very much moisture. In the coastal areas it may be needed to help prevent rust from forming again.
