Default Magic Pulsar - E-1 error

Okay, I've had my first real night of playing the Magic Pulsar and the good news is that it didn't take long to enter a BB.

The bad news is that upon paying out a Jac-In, the machine entered an E-1 error. According to the 'support section'...an E-1 error is meant to indicate that the dealer be contacted for assistance.

There is a white button on the powerbox inside the machine that "stirs" the hopper. After stirring the remaining tokens within the hopper (and a little help from me) a reset cleared the error and it began to pay normally. It even pays out a few tokens before entering the E-1 error all over again.

I pulled the hopper out and emptied it. I shook all the tokens out and replaced the hopper. I reset the machine and the error sporadically reoccurs now and then. I can duplicate the error by inserting a few tokens and hitting the 'cash out' button. No specific number of tokens will cause the error and the hopper is loaded with atleast 500 tokens (but less than 1500). The hopper appears to be plugged in fine, it does pay and play normally most of the time.

The bad thing is that the machine tends to pay out tokens most often after working into a well-deserved BB. After the E-1 error occurs, a reset throws the game out of the BB. That kind of ruins the fun really quick for me.

    Any ideas?

I was getting a lot of hopper errors and couldn't figure out why. Took it out shook it, and it would go away, but the next time I moved the hopper to do something, it would come back. Very sporadic. :-?

The reason for my problem was there was a wire from the removed overflow bucket laying behind the hopper that was being shorted out intermittently when the hopper was shoved in on top of it.

Also, check the overflow bucket ground wire. They take the overflow out of these machines and occasionally just leave these wires lying back there to get shorted out.

Hmm...I've now pulled the hopper out twice and completely emptied it. All the connections look good and there are no bent tokens inside the machine. I've also given the hopper a spin (manually) with my fingers and it spins completely around.

Upon receiving the E-1 error...I'll open the machine up and go through this process:

    1) Turn power (inside) off.
    2) Turn key (inside) to on/off (I think its "on" in the Magic Pulsar).
    3) Turn power (inside) on.
    4) Hold joystick (outside) down for 5 seconds.
    5) Stir hopper (with button)...almost immediately a token comes flying out of the exit shaft on the hopper.
    6) Turn key (inside) to on/off (again, I think it's "off" in the Magic Pulsar)
    7) Done.

It might pay out just fine for awhile...maybe even pay out 24-35 tokens in a single dump fine...but sooner or later...its E-1 time again.

Besides asking for ideas on what to do...what do the casinos do during a coin jammed hopper? A hard reset (as I'm doing) takes you out of the BB and wipes out your credit level...isn't there another way to safely reset the machine? Turning the key (outside) to the left does nothing.

Spray it with some silicone spray inside where the tokens go. I had a similar issue with my Terminator hopper. Shot some silicone inside it and it's worked great ever since.

Silicone spray? Does that work like a lubricant or something? Hmm....just all over inside the hopper on the moving parts?

Yes, it works like a libricant. I just shot it into the token slots and spun it a few times by hand.

Alright...that sounds like a really good suggestion. I'm sure its something simple, like a single token is just not spitting out the way it should. There seems to be no one thing that causes it.

Silicone... a metaphor for life without friction, a worthy goal, methinks.

Won't the tokens get all greasy (and messy on the hands)?

THe E-1 might be coming from drag on the hopper, spray and wipe down.

or if a mechical mind, tear it apart and lub the parts by hand, that works for me too. :-)

    Alright fellas,

That's a no-joy on the silicone spray. I took the hopper (almost) completely apart twice and lubed anything that I could see.

The hopper spins freely by hand and it spins freely without tokens loaded in it. The hopper spins counter clockwise. All wires appear to be connected. There does not appear to be anything that would cause a token to stick and there are no bent tokens in the machine. I only use two styles of tokens (those from Milt and those from Pachislot777).

It appears to be a complete crap shoot as to when it goes into the E-1 error during a pay out. No set amount of tokens will trigger it.

    Any more ideas?

milts tokens are a little heavier than pachislots777.

you could try one or the other and see if that helps.

i got an e1 in bonus on my neo magic with regular japanese tokens once.

Just give the tech support guys at DGI a call. I'm sure they'll take care of you on this.

    Well this is interesting...

I just separated out my Milt tokens from my Pachislot777 tokens.

After emptying my Magic Pulsar's hopper, I filled it with only the Pachislot777 tokens.

I've now gone about 5 cash dumps without any errors. Could it be that there is that much of a difference between the Milt and Pachislot777 tokens? Do I now have to consider which tokens are in which machine?

The Magic Pulsar is from Pachislot777 and the Don Don King is from Milt. The Don Don King doesn't seem to care which token is in it.

Prior to this discovery, I received an E-2 error (change error)...leading me to believe that it wasn't liking the tokens.

    What do you think?

it could be picky with what tokens it uses that why i only use milts tokens.

I run a mishmash of tokens in my Magic Pulsar including about 50 varieties of misc Japanese parlor tokens, Chuck-E-Cheese tokens, Quarters, and even the new brass and silver nickel thickness tokens I got for Zcore (that he got from someone else on here) I've never had any trouble with any of them. It's interesting to note that the problem seemed to be affected by this. It might be a clue as to what's going on
