    1. They don't recognise any of the special terms and slang grammar that are used, like chukka, kenri, yakumono etc... and
    2. Translating this stuff into English is not only therefore difficult, but often comes out wrong. Not to mention, it can give them a 'kanji warui' type of feeling (ie. they don't feel comfortable discussing yakuza-related paraphenalia, which they associate with lower class gangsters).

Your friend could be TOTALLY different - this is just my 2 cents worth to perhaps tread with caution? There are certainly many Japanese women who love the game, love discussing it, and are as addicted as men can be. But, they are not the majority...

Just recently my 12 year old daughter started learning Japanese at school. In the first lesson her new teacher, a Japanese lady, asked if any of the pupils knew anything about Japan and it's culture

My daughter was quite excited and said I have Pachinko Machines and Pachislo machines at home

The Japanese teacher stopped what she was doing, looked at her quite seriously and said "those are not good for your brain"

So I'm guessing we will get no help there with translations either...

more pix is never an overload! we love pix!

if it wasn't yet mentioned. do not clean the face, the cell, with water... the worst damage to these old pachinkos is the staining where water soaked in around the nails. this damage is not repairable and really detracts from the appearance, and value, of the machine.

$20 is a steal for that machine. I like the intricate center piece.

you will find that others have repainted areas, black sharpied the high areas of plastic, and silver painted raised areas, too.

the sanyo comets come apart on the back easily, too, so you can take it down and clean the ball paths well. just take lots of pix, so you know where to put things back later.

several of us had a sticky plastic lever on the left, just above the seesaw. if you open the machine up, you should pull this white plastic lever straight off and polish the brass axle and clean the plastic hole... this will help with this "problem area" on comets.

also, no grease or WD40, as this will guck up the balls and tracks.

    have FUN!!

here're a couple vids I did on the comet II. first is initial impressions. second is wiring.

No worries about traditional Japanese women with my friend. She laughed when I told her that some women don't like Pachinko. She is very out going and some what non-traditional. She said she'd be happy to help if she can.

Just like all the other have said before me, Welcome.

Those heart tulips on the machine are cool. I've never seen them before. Your machine look to be in good shape and I'm sure will give you hours of enjoyment.
