Default Tokens do not register, tried reset.

    Hello all,
This is my first slot so i hope it something simple. I apoligse if this has been covered but i have searched what i could and not found an answer.

Problem: "insert medals" is flashing, token goes in and does not register. The token ends up in the hopper. I have tried doing a reset and has been able to successfully change the odds but not make it work. On the main board when a token in inserted leds "me1 flashes on while mps flashes off" other wise mps is on all the time. all voltage leds are lit and i have reseated the connectors.
I have also turned the key to the left but that does not help.

I appreaciate your time and hope someone knows the fix. I want to play my first slot.

Make sure the reset is done properly. I've had this happen in the past where someone reset the machine, but failed to switch the key back to it's counterclockwise position. The power should be off when turning the switch to the right, and after the reset sequence is finished, turn the key back to its original position with the power on.

If you have reset the machine correctly, then the problem is likely in the wiring or the coin mech itself. Normally, when the token is rejected, it does not fall into the hopper, it falls into the payout tray, so my guess is that the sensor that registers the token passing by is either dirty or faulty. Take a close look at it. The coin mechs are often easy to remove and cleaning the parts with a Q-tip moistened in rubbing alcohol may help.

I'm not all that familiar with the mechanics of the coin mech, but if you wait a little while, I'm sure you'll receive a satisfactory solution.

    Thank you,
I beleive i have done the reset properly. I was able to change the odds number from 4 to 6 by following the procedure, and by redoing it.

I just checked the machine and the coin mech has 2 sensors in it. a optical and a magnetic type sensor.
I can block the optical for a while and get a error music, and code cj. If i reset it and stick a token in front of the other sensor i also get an error music and a ce code. The leds flashing on the mainboard does eliminate the coin mech i beleive.
I cleaned the coin mech slides and tested again with no luck.

Is it possibly the tokens you are using??

I have read before of others sometimes experiencing problems with bi-metal tokens
    not registering on certain machines

I have solid tokens. Also the previous owner is a friend and he had it working until one day, this happened. The tokens i have with it should be the right ones.

On the Main PCB board there are a number of LED's. Are any of them on all the time? As you push each button. : spin knob, drop in a Token, Max Bet, Token dump ect, the LED's should light up or flash for each one. Check to make sure that the three stop buttons activate an LED light. It should come on as you press the stop button and go out as you release it.

Same for the spin knob. An LED should light up as you hold it down or up. Check to see if the LED's are flashing as you pass a token through. A token acceptor can have from one to three sensors to verify the token.

A stuck button normally will pass a Token back into the lower tray but we are dealing with "Electronics". Depending on the type machine, it may pass the Token into the hopper instead of the lower tray.

Which version of Getter Mouse do you have? There were Three made by Elco, now AZURE. Two Pre 2000, one in 1977. And the latest made in 2007.

Two of the three are posted. LD. Is the First Picture yours?

Pics would be a big help. Also, if you have not done so, try re seating all of the connectors you can. Find and check the round glass fuse on the Payout board to make sure it is not blown.

Let us know what you find and post some pic's of the machine and the internals.

As for lights and stuck buttons i have none. I checked all buttons and reels.

When i insert a token one flashes off and one on as the tokens pass through them.

I beleive the payout board is the one isolated on the right. The fuse is good alonge with bboth power supply fuses. My game is the older (pic on left) i would assume from 77 i will post pics tonight when i get home.
    Thanks

Your problem is odd, in that most errors we've experienced that include a closed switch as NIT mentioned, will automatically reject the token and dispense it into the payout tray. Tokens inserted will always be rejected if inserted during play, after a replay has been won, or while any of the three stop buttons or the spin knob is held down.

A few of us have experienced a problem where after a button is released, the electrical circuit remains active which results in the tokens being rejected. This can be cured, but it should result in the token being deposited in the payout tray.

The fact that your machine displays a flash on the led as the token passes through the mech indicates to me that at least one of the sensors is working, the problem is that the token is not registered as a credit on the machine.

    Here are the pics requested.
First is a pic of the front and a general pic of the inside. The insert medals light is flashing so i tried to catch it on. I have included a pic of the coin mech. and the main board. I also included a closeup of the led that i originally explained them flasing one off and one on while a coin goes through.

My thoughts are that the problem is with the mainboard, somehow the signal that a coin has gone through is not getting to the right spot in it. IS it possibile to get a replacement main PCB?
    Thanks

with the power off, try unplugging and reseating all your connections.

    HA
    I GOT IT!!!

You probily wont beleive this but i will tell you. I took the token mech apart and realized the second part of the sensor WAS a double sensor, i noticed there was also a me2 led along with the me1 that was flashing on. So there is 3 sensors on the coin mech.

I tested the traces from all the coin mech sensors on the circuit board on the door and found one was broken, after quadruple checking i bypassed it with wire wrapping wire and BAM i is working.

Thanks for your help, all this is a wonderfully forum.
now all i need is replacement door bulbs (the kind you have to thread the wires into the holders and fold over) a replacement florescent ballets and bulb. This could allways be hacked with led under cabinets from the hardware store.
    Thanks

As for the lower florescent lamp the bulb must have burned out taking out the ballast, i replaced the fuse in the ballast and hooked it up to the working bulb and it blew again. Best would be to fit some other light source i it, that replacement isn't necessary (led) or off the shelf in the US.
    Thanks
I think i will close this thread, and now i have to decide to either keep both pachislos or trade / sell them for more pachinkos and pinball which is more my passion.
