I think Daverob is the only man with the knowhow for the dongle, which I'm sure is a close guarded secret. Good luck to your son in working out how to make one.

The 'close guarded secret' is the signalling between the card reader unit (dongle) and the pachinko machine that makes it pay out the balls on demand. It took me nearly 6 months of reverse engineering and lots of dead ends to figure this out, so I hope you can understand if I'm a little reluctant to give these secrets away for free. However the rest of the information needed to connect to the pachinko machine can be found on this page on my website.

However if this is a purely educational project, and I'm not going to find him as a future competitor in the dongle marketplace, then I'd be happy to give him hints and pointers on how to go about working this out for himself.

Though I must warn you that this research may involve buying more pachinkos, as I found that only certain makes and models can be persuaded to give up their secrets with the techniques I used.
