Default New Sea Story on the verge and Monako Boat?

A guy on craig's list is asking $200 OBO for New Sea Story. I already own Fever Queen which I love but I'm looking to expand. The LCD screen on NSS is huge which is a plus. Is there anyone that is able to tell a bit more about this one? I've watched a video on Super New Sea Story...is this one close to NSS in wonder?

Lastly, he also mentioned that he has Monoko Boat for $125. I can't find a scrap of info on it anywhere???

And I shall continue to repeat that this is only because it's the quickest gambling pachinko in existence. If you don't win within 30 seconds on a spin, you lost. Next spin.

The big, big gamblers hate wasting time on those other 3 minute movie machines. ^^

I just don't want new users to confuse "popular in Japan" with "exciting, fun, and entertaining" even if it will be that for some people.

thanks sederian. I had not heard that about the sea stories. I wondered why the japanese would be so interested in... fish and mermaids?

So let me see. Are you saying that New Sea Story is not that exciting but that people play it because it plays quickly?

So for home use is it worth it? Also what do you mean by 30 seconds and then you lose?

    Thanks

you get a reach every time you get a ball in the center pocket,
most of the time you will lose,
but it will run a reach display with video trying to match 3 numbers on the screen that can run for 30 seconds and up.
check youtube for new sea story videos and you will see what i'm talking about

    Will do.

Also quick question. I've been playing my new 2004 Fever Queen quite a bit lately and never seem to hit anything big. Sometimes I'll get the outer two 7's lined up but the middle 7 never seems to hit. In summary I've never hit a fever...is that what you call it?

Are the skill settings with modern pachinkos??? or do I just need to be patient and keep playing?

Nope, it's MONACO's 'Boat' (Monaco, or occasionally 'monako', is the other name for Japanese manufacturer, Okumura). The pachinko features the very popular other Japanese gambling sport, motor boat racing.

Not sure which one your Craig-lister is meaning though - as there are at least 4 versions. Here's one though (already translated thru Google) : Google Translate for a start.

    good luck

You know, that's a really interesting machine he has there. From what I can gather, there are 4 versions of 'Boat' pachinkos from Monaco out there - Boat DX, 5 and SP, and a vintage named Sky Boat (ferris wheel themed).

I can find nothing that matches your machine here - it's not any of the above, so... ??

BUT, here's a video of the actual machine (not the one for sale necessarily!) working :
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mruWK1G0Z7s

Hmmm... See what more you can find out from the Seller perhaps? Or get more photos of the machine, preferably from the back this time (left hand side, middle - there's a maker's label on the wood panel we need a close-up of).

This one is elusive. However it appears to be from '97. They made the Monako Boat in a cash version as well as a for a card reader. Not sure about the one pictured.

If you can look around the cell or on the back and see if it has writing like CRモナコボート, or just モナコボート that would be a big help. Also if there are any letters or numbers after that too.

Would it possible to get pics of the other versions you guys are referring too? As far as I can tell in a side by side comparison with the pic the guy gave me and the youtube vid they are exactly the same. So then the one in the vid is the elusive one?

Sorry, didn't mean to step on your toes... I didn't look at your video, and the way it linked didn't specify what it was.

The second question was answered for me, but as for the first...

I -personally- do not find it to be exciting. However, there are two reasons for this:

    1. I am spoiled by the fact I live in Japan and have access to a wide, wide variety of machines.

    2. I have played a decent to large amount of pachinko.

Sea Story tends to be an exciting machine at first, when you're still learning the ropes of the game as it were. But over time, if you're ever lucky enough to get to play multiple machines (I've certainly had the chance to watch / play / or just try 100-200+ machines) you'll find the gameplay to be very basic. There are other quick machines, but they have some aces up their sleeves.

The best comparision I can come up with is:

Sea Story = one-line slot machine

Those one-line, one-armed slot machines that spin, stop, and either pay out (3 bars!) or not (blank-bar-seven) is what Sea Story is.

Modern (for me I think made after 2003) machines = video slots with animation

It may take a while to figure out what's going on, but it's usually entertaining even if you're not winning.

Again, when you get to play a bunch of machines, you notice that each of them follows specific rules of play but often have their own take on design. Sea Story is the rules. There's no better single representation of the essence of pachinko boiled down than in that game.

    That's about it.

    ...

However, for comparison and so you have something else to base your reading of my opinion, here is something I find to be quite exciting as a pachinko.
