Default ELVIRA PINBALL - If you have one, PLEASE HELP!!!

    Hey guys-
So those of you who were in on the thread know I got an Elvira pinball with some playfield damage. Well, I decided to restore it! I know! CRAZY! But so far, I'm really happy with what I've done.

    So here's the thing-

If you have an Elvira pinball, can you take a close up photo for me? I'm attaching the part of the playfield I need. if I get a photo of it, my life will be SOOOO much easier.

Can someone please take a photo? If you camera has MACRO on it, get about 10" away, and take a photo as square to the playfield as possible. if you can blast it with a lamp, and not use a flash it would be best, but if it's blurry it won't work for what I'm doing. Anyone willing to help? (ps- I've already started restoring it, which is why it doesn't look REALLY bad...

    Thanks in advance!!!

Sorry I don't have an EATPM...I would love to. Did you look at the internet pinball database to see if any oftheir pics would help you?

My EatPM is currently at a friends house, I've emailed him and asked if he can help with the photo, if not I'll get a pic next time I'm over there.

Thanks guys! Daverob - if you're friend would do that, I appreciate it SOOOO much!!!
I'm planning on printing it like 5 times on transparency paper, then using an x-acto to basically cutt out stencils to paint with. I'm pretty sure it wil work! I've been doing a lot by hand, and it already looks SOOOOO much better! I'm really excited to make my EatPM prettier!

    Congrats on the Elvira!!

Maybe these would help also Elvira & The Party Monsters Pinball Insert Decals - eBay (item 250439928801 end time Oct-05-09 17:13:48 PDT)

I had a few inserts lift when I (much against everyone's advice) removed the mylar from my T2.

You know...that's not what I had in mind...but I'm going to buy them. I've been hand painting some of those things. I'm going to strip them away and use the decasl!
    Thanks!

AW! THANKS! that was SOOO close to helping..and may help with the Bats, but not the main area I need. So far I've been doing pretty good by hand, but if I get good photos, I'll make templates and clean it up better. i'm the worst artist ever...but I'm really proud of the worm I have done. I'll post pics of my restoration soon.

Looks good. I've found you only really notice touch ups when looking closely at the playfield and not when your playing.

If you use the decals you will have to seal them with some type of clear sealant if you don't the ink will rub off when polished.

OK- going with that, here's my problem...

I do plan on sealing everything I do, including the decals...but how do I get the OLD decals off the playfield? I am refering to decals NOT under mylar, but I don't see how I can get them up. I tried to find the edge with an exacto and couldn't.
    Any ideas?

The original artwork is not a decal, it's screen printed directly onto the playfield.

Personally when attempting a restoration of a playfield this badly damaged, I prefer to touch up the paintwork whenever possible, rather than replacing with a decal. But if I have to use a decal, then I remove the plastic lamp inserts from the playfield and then sand them smooth to get rid of the old artwork. They are then replaced and the surrounding playfield artwork is touched up and the last step is to stick the insert decals on top before covering the entire area with mylar.

How do you remove the plastic lamp inserts? I thought about that, but it seems like they're glue into place.

Thanks for the advice though! On your word, I'm going to leave the couple i was able to hand paint, and just do the BAD ones.

Hey guys- Finally finished Elvira. Not PERFECT, but since I'm not an artist, and don't pay good attention to detail, I think I did pretty well!

To say your not an artist you've done a really nice job. Well done.

The insert with the flames round it on the second pic looks really raised to me. You might want to make it level again. Do do this you need to heat up the insert from underneath, try with a hair dryer but you might need a heat gun to soften the glue around the insert so it can be pushed back in place.
