Well, it seems that the Allwin machine that I worked so darn hard to get has gone AWOL! The seller shipped the item on September 29th along with some other things he sold on ebay, and all parcels arrived at their respective destinations with the exception of mine. It probably wouldn't be much of a problem if he had remembered to keep the shipping receipt and write down the tracking number!!

So, the Allwin and cricket are missing. He insured the shipment, but without the receipt and tracking number there is little we can do. I can get my money back through PayPal, but I would much rather have the Allwin machine.

At this point I am really bummed. I will let everyone know if it magically appears on my doorstep someday.

I would think if he went back to the shipping store they'd remember a package like that, not many that size weight, out on that specific day, plus if he shipped them all out at the same time/day, tracking numbers should be close to each other?

The challenge is that this seller lives on a ranch out in the middle of nowhere, and it takes him several hours to get to the closest town with UPS shipping. His daughter dropped the items off for shipping on his behalf on her way back to college, and she promptly lost the receipt. I expect that he has contacted the shipper and spoke with them before he told me the news, but who knows.

If I were him I would do everything I could to locate that package so I didn't have to refund the money on a lost item, but thats just me.

    Oh No!!

The Seller should visit the Post Office or wherever it was shipped from and try asking them very nicely if they have a list or record of all items processed that day

They should be able to narrow down the time they were taken there, and I'm sure the weight would be recorded in the system too, that should help identify the tracking numbers / reference numbers

I really hope it can be found, was a nice Allwin

I agree with hanabi and compirate, surely some young college student dropping off a ginormous box on date XXX would ring someone's bell?

my wife and I argued about this last night, but I swear that if you dropped at a place and paid them there, they would have a computer trail...

(we prepay, stick the label and drop for fedex pickup, so she might be right that the shops that we drop at can't help us)

but all this is academic... we want the ALLWIN!!! wahhhhhh and maybe the cricket

I still don't know how they can lose a box that big,

and if they left it at the wrong doorstep you would think that person would call and say it was delivered by mistake.

maybe it got dropped off a loading dock somewhere and trashed

Relax, the delivery guy saw a big heavy package and said "I'll get it later". So it will sit untill his boss sees it and makes him take it. I'm thinking on Friday it will be found and delivered on Monday

I'm not sure, but i think you have up to 45 days to file for a paypal refund, other wise your out of luck.

    • If you and your seller cannot resolve the issue, you can go to the PayPal Resolution Center to open a dispute any time within 45 days of when you made the payment.
    • If you’re still unable to resolve the issue, you can escalate your dispute to a claim. By doing this, you're asking PayPal to review the case and decide the outcome.
    • After 20 days, we'll automatically close any dispute that you didn't escalate to a claim.

Thanks LD (and everyone else who offered suggestions)!!

I received an email from the seller this evening, and the UPS store where the Allwin was shipped from is really giving him a difficult time without the receipt or tracking numbers. He is now contacting a district supervisor in an attempt to get someone to care about the lost package. He did offer to refund my money in full, but I told him that I would much prefer the machine as opposed to a refund. We agreed to give it two more weeks to be found or delivered, and if it is still missing he will refund my money in full since it was his error to not get the tracking number or receipt.

If it gets to that point, then I guess you could say that we both will have lost an Allwin machine.

Well considering the history of this listing on again off again
this didnt bother to keep a receipt sounds awfully convenient.
