I got some 'hot stuff' for sale too. It seems my employer won't reimburse me for 'personal items' lost regardless if they were used for purposes duty-related. I'm hoping to recover some funds.

Up for sale is an Acer Aspire One Netbook, with the six cell battery. I also have an eight in one card reader/writer, a Pentax 8MP camera (takes video, too!), a Microsoft wireless optical mouse, and 7 thumb drives, four 8GB, and the rest 1 GB.

I also have some binoculars, a Peterson Pipe, a flashlight, some car keys, a phone charger and a garage door opener. I just haven't found them in the ashes yet.

    Any interest? Contact me!

Check your Homeowners Insurance policy, you might be covered.

I'll be doing that today, although i think my deductible is very close to the value of the items lost and it may not be worth filing. The district attorney here will file a claim against the defendant after the case is adjudicated and attach wages, etc to recover the funds, but I don't anticipate ever getting reimbursed by someone with a 7 page criminal record.

even if covered all insurance companies will depreciate lost or damaged items.

You should always add replacaement value to your homeowners insurance.

the added cost is very low, and well worth it.

when our house got flooded from a broken water pipe insurance payed full replacement for carpeting and damaged furniture minus our deductable.

and the same when our home got broken into and valuables were stolen.

my policy also covered items lost in the cars up to a certain value.
