So if I find one that needs tlc where does one get the right parts for that machine to keep it authentic? I mean if it's got a broken window frame what are the chances of me finding an exact replacement. Maybe just use any old one...one that's nice?

if your good and or damn lucky u find the same brand machine.. that way u have a machine that is in working order and easy to use for trouble shooting.. (good luck finding another vanguard)

or like most, u fall in head first and just buy the next machine u find (who cares of all the parts are all there)

my bet is on jumping in head first

keep in mind the better method is head first.. cause head first is only ankle deep.. if u wade in slow u find your self in up to your neck in no time

6 of one half dozen of the other

find one that u like the look of and go for it

by the way i have never seen one i dont like yet

Do like I did and buy now and figure it out on the fly.
I had no idea how these things worked but after figuring it out I loved it.
    Now I'm hooked

yes, that's the fun part.rescuing a machine from someone who neglected it for years, and restoring it to it's former glory.but it is nice to find a really nice one to start off with.

So you mentioned, goodluck finding another vanguard? Is the one I have really that rare? It seems pretty straight up too me?

Heck, I've been drooling on some vintage ones online that I can only dream of having someday. I especially like the ones with 16 vertical and diagonal lights in the middle of the cell !!! Wow! Now that one looks cool ! Again I know that mine is in good shape but seems very run of the mill...right?

run of the mill?? ya i guess so .. its the brand of yours.. its one that is not see as often.. rare?? no just a little hard to find Nishijin is way more common of a machine.. when it boils right down to it they are all really similar.. except a model "A" machine..

if u have a good understanding of how your machine works then u can figure out the other makes and models..

take your time and find something u like

good luck in your search and have fun.. thats the most important part

I will...looking is the fun part. Would it be ok for me to post pics of ones I find to get a better idea of what I'm looking at?

I really want one of these. Is this type hard to find? Would it be expensive?

Congrats on your machine purchase, That is a Beauty!
I have one of those Daiichi machines with the same frame. I think it also was the first vintage machine I aquired! I love the slanted glass and the ornamentation of this machine!

Niiiiice!! Everyone has been bragging that mine is so clean however I think yours is cleaner than mine!! Great light on the front too.

What's the story on it? Craig's List... or are you the original owner?

    Thanks
