little "ballys 5000 plus" help please

just picked this up

has an error code that reads #38 safe ram error

have some other questions but hoping someone can help me reset it.. shouldn't that clear the code??

i'm not 100%sure,i collect the bally electromechanicals,but i think i remember seeing reset chips and keypads being sold on ebay for these ,maybe that would help.that manual luckydog had up would be the first place i would look though.

i ended up using an online repair service..

i should probably give them a grade of "A" since he helped me get it working.. but it was really hard.. lots of trial and error on my behalf.. he would send me parts ie clear chips" but only very very simple instructions what to do with them.. so i would have to go online and educate myself then ask question.. sometimes his replys wer really kinda rude..

but any hoo its working now

soon. it's in the back of the shed right now. johnny had it almost back together, but something about some gear teeth that were not aligned right, so the wheel mechanism wouldn't slide back inside. he had already refurbed some of it and gave me a repair manual, too! it's just so darn heavy that it's hard for me to get it somewhere easy to work on, bad back and all...

only b/c you asked , I just went to the shed and took these pix.

I know that there are slot machine forums. I just hadn't found one to join yet... and, there's a whole 'nother vocabulary for all the parts in these machines...

the last picture shows this cylindrical catch inside the case that the whole wheel mechanism is supposed to line up with and "click" in place. it won't go, so johnny thought the teeth needed to be reengaged with the pie shaped piece rotated a bit (sorry if that doesn't make sense, I need to study the manual before I sound like a dork at the slot machine forum)

guess I have a whole new electromechanical project ahead of me...

just wondering if it's older than 25 years for CA law purposes. do they have manufacture dates on these?
