Board Question for Las Vegas Video Slot Machine

I'm thinking of buying one of those nickel video slot machines with the nine lines such as Texas Tea, I Dream of Jeannie, etc. It appears that I can get an extra eprom chip with a bunch of poker games on it and then I can swap out the Texas Tea chip for the poker game chip on the same slot machine. The vendor is recommending that I buy an extra 3902 board for $150 so that all I'll have to do is exchange boards rather than swap out eprom chips. He's making it sound like swapping out eprom chips can be difficult or a hassle. Since I don't know anything about 3902 boards or eprom chips or how much these usually cost, I was hoping someone on our site may be able to offer up some advice. Thank you!

It just depends on how easy you want the change over to be, and also how much extra money you want to spend.
I change eproms all the time in my slots.
If you choose to go that route, I would suggest that you get a eprom puller like this one - Chip Puller PLCC Extraction Tool - Ohio Gaming IGT Slot Machine Sales
Otherwise the pins will usually get bent or break off.

on Bally games any time you change the eproms, the machine requires a master reset. Which means you will also need clear chips. I'm pretty sure IGT is the same way.
