Default Re-Surfacing the laminate on a Vintage?

    Hey all,

Has anyone here ever considered re-surfacing their Vintage machine? That is, peel off the off-while (usually) laminate on the wood, and replace it with a new material?

It seems like it would be an easy task - and most of the edges are concealed by equipment, frames, etc - so it would look professional as well...

    Later,

    Matt!

I recall that someone listed a source for some similar laminate to patch an area with...

I kinda like that 70's look.

if you do peel off the laminate, let us know. I think that they used a cheap kind of plywood for that area, so you will have to re-laminate with something else.

some of my older machines had a wood laminate that got chipped or peeled off at the corners. I had good luck with an oak colored wood putty and sanding it smooth. can almost not tell.

so glad to have another vintage restorer on board. you got me motivated, finally, to get to my garage inventory!

A nice stained veneer would look cool, especially on an old machine, maybe with some marquetry.

You can get pre-made inlay bands that would look good around tthe sides, a little in from the edge.

OK. I thought you were referring to vinyl around the edge frame, where the laminate is. I couldn't imagine clowns there... btw, I don't like clowns either, I think they're scary...
