    Default Looking for LCD info

I was fortunate enough to recently win an auction on EPay for some LCD monitors pulled from pachinko machines. Before I start randomly pumping signals into them I though I would ask the gurus if they have technical spec (especially pinouts for the B1 and B2 sockets) info on these little beauties.

My digital camera is MIA, but the EPay auction pics are pretty decent:

If anybody has any info, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    ken

Good snag for a buck! I assume you picked em up too?

That's gonna be a toughie, at least it looks like they have their own driver boards. Maybe he can tell you what game they came out of, might pick up one of those also to check signals.

By the way, I moved this to the pachislo support area cause they're from pachislos.

The only thing I'm getting hit on is the TXF number, but only wholesalers, no data sheets

Panasonic datasheets are really tough to find as they are usually only available in Japanese, however I have a a paper copy of an old Japanese databook for some Panasonic LCD panels (but it doesn't list this particular model).

Most of these displays share a common pinout, going from the other displays the most common configuration for connectors with the same number of pins is this...

    5 pin power connector.

    1 - Vi (12v) Display Power
    2 - GND (Vi)
    3 - GND (Vbl)
    4 - GND (Vbl)
    5 - Vbl (12v) Backlight Power

You need to link the ground pins yourself as there is no internal connection between the ground pins for Vi and Vbl. The datasheet also recommends fitting a pair of 100uF capacitors as near as possible to the power connector (one between Vi and it's GND pin and one for Vbl).

    9 Pin signal connector.

    1 - GND
    2 - GND
    3 - Red
    4 - Green
    5 - Blue
    6 - Sync
    7 - Sync GND
8 - GND / display switching (depending on model)
    9 - GND

Signal timing depends on the display model. Most smaller resolution displays need NTSC video timing, larger ones are VGA/SVGA.

I can't be certain if these pinouts are the right ones for your display. I'd suggest that you use a multimeter to check the resistance of the connections before powering up the display. The ground pins on the signal connector should be connected together in the display and the R,G,B connections should measure around 75 ohms to one of the ground pins. Then apply power to the Vbl pins to see if the backlight comes on, and finally power up the whole display if everything else checks out.

If someone can find a pachislo machine that uses this model display, then a quick check of the voltage going to the display power connector would be a great help in checking if this information is accurate.

    Dave, You Rock! Big Time!

This at least gives me a starting point. Thanks a lot. I will post the results of my experimenting as I go along.

Compirate, yes this was an awesome deal. Since GAK is right in my back yard I ran right up there the next day. I felt kind of bad, like I was stealing them, but I have missed the market on Items I have sold on EPay before. I had an item that cost me over $100, never used it so I sold it on EPay for $10 + $4 shipping (!#$% Epay shipping calculator). It cost $13.95 to ship. So I made $0.05 on the deal + had to pay EPay + Paypal fees .

If anybody wants one (or more) to play with, just PM me for details.

    Thanks,

    ken

Just wanted to say thanks again to Dave. I ended up selling all of them off on one of the video game forums. The manual data Dave posted helped one of the guys over there get a picture up on one and the rest just flew out the door.

Now if I could find another batch...

Oh well, call this one CASE CLOSED SUCCESSFULLY!
