Default Noob question about types (A,B,C)

I'm pretty new to the forum and in my reading I see references to type A, B & C mechanics. I tried to do a search for the answer as to how to identify the types but my searches always bring up way too many posts to read through.

Can anyone explain the differences between types to me?

The types refer to Nishijin brand pachinko machines. Nishijin is/was the largest manufacturer of machines I beieve and therfore are the most common vintage machines out there. The "A" type is the oldest and "C" the latest. If you go to vintagepachinko.com there is a good explanation of the various tyoes as well as pictures.

here's the link from vintage pachinko

    Nishijin Pachinko Machine Model Information

A's had an upper and lower tray and recirculated the ball. we have decided that they did away with this b/c they needed to clean the balls between users (think of the germs recirulated). the other thing about type b and c is that the win and loss balls come out different chutes, so they could keep track.

A's were both single shot and then multi-shot with two front trays (and the las vegas model in between that stuck a plastic tray and multi shooter on a single shot)

    B's are easiest to find

C's sometimes have a motorized part or something in the center. less common to find.

i understand (cause i own one) the diff between "single ball" and the "single ball conversion"

U might wana say that all winning balls were all droped to the bottom tray and the player has to move the ball from the bottom tray to the upper tray by hand..

one machine i dotn think i have seen is the machine "model A fron overflow"..

to my eye that looks like what i would consider a std model A machine.. won balls are dumped into the upper tray so no real handling of balls are needed by the player..

can u explain futher what the diff is between this and the std A ??

    thanks

    bill,

    nice descriptions.

only thing I might do is to add an arrow to point to the front overflow chute. that one took me a minute to figure out what you were saying.

I presume that this is something of a transition machine, too?

the conversion machine was called "las vegas" per compirate's reference

Thanks for the suggestions. I've made a couple updates to the content based on your feedback Moparformances. Chewy, I'll add an arrow to the picture soon.

Perhaps you are right and there is no need for the model "Nishijin A Front Overflow". The only differences for it from the model "Nishijin A" are the following:

    1) different design of the lower tray.
    2) different shooter assemblies - there are 2 versions in the Overflow both different from A.
    3) different play tray design
    4) flow of balls when you empty the play tray
    5) minor differences in parts/covers in back

I am working indexing many of the variances/versions of Nishijin parts. I have just created a page with the 6 different versions of play trays and which Models they typically appear on. I will also soon be publishing a page on the different versions of shooter assemblies with ball load levers.

Here is a link to the play tray versions.
Nishijin Pachinko Machine Play Tray Versions

As I read through the threads I am trying to determine which is more popular/accurate: Single Shot or Single Ball (or something else altogether). I am leaning towards single ball since you have to load balls one at a time. Single shot seemed less accurate because even machines with a play tray only shoot a single ball at a time (unless you load 2 or 3 in the lane and then fire ). Thoughts?

    Hi Bill-
The second Nishijin Play Tray - Version C tray that you have pictured were also used on type B machines typically made prior to 1972. The only reason I know this is I have cleaned up a few. The nice think about any of the B type machine trays seems to be that you can swap them between years with out much trouble.

Since were on the subject of Nishijin machines, do you know if all type C machines cells were interchangeable?

    Eric,

You are right on about the sencond Play Tray version C (the green one) I have only seen these on Pachinko Model Bs. Good catch I will fix that tonight.

Not all Nishijin Model C's had interchangeable cells. About 3/4s of the ones I have seen did not have them.

I have only seen about 4 Model B's with an interchangeable cell.
