    Question Just Wondering?

When playing some pachinkos like Woody Woodpecker and Popeye,
When you hit the chance button you will sometimes get a percentage,
    Like 3% or 10% e.t.c.
I was just wondering % of what or for what?
I will await your brilliant answer to this question (Compirate)
    Thanks Derek

Those percentages are supposedly your chance to win on a particular spin. So if it says 3%, than you'd have a 3% chance to win on that spin.

    HOWEVER

In large part, these are simply a tease. While it is true that some pachinkos will follow these limitations and actually give you a 3%(or whatever it displays) chance to win on that spin, the usual programming for percentages isn't nearly that simple.

Here's a quick example and explanation as far as I can figure out:

Neon Genesis Evangelion has a pachinko DS game (two of them now) and it actually shows you your chance to win each spin if you ask it to. Here's the interesting part, though... Whereas I used to think that each spin was a static chance decided in advance, it seems to be much more complicated.

When you spin, the machine doesn't say, "This spin has a 0.1% chance to win." Instead it says, "This spin has a 0.1% chance to win before anything else happens." So when a reach occurs (say once in every 12 spins) it factors that into your win chance and now you have a 0.2% chance.

    Stay with me here.

So each reach, each animation (such as those 3% and 10% popups) has a 1 in X number of spins chance of occuring. When those come up during a spin, they add to the overall chance of you winning that spin.

    Full example:

Normal spin, no reach, no extras: 0.1% chance of win.

Normal spin, reach (1 in 12 spins), no extras: 0.2% chance of win.

Step up reach (2 times - 1 in 45 spins), red text (1 in 60 spins): 7.32% chance of win.

    etc.

Here's the thing, though... for some reason, when you get an absolutely great starting reach (gold text, people popping out from all over, showers of ribbons, etc.) BUT you get a mediocre reach, you'll see the percentage to win drop and not add. It seems, based on the Eva percentages, that the chance to win is multiples of the things you see and not straight additions. So bad chances / reaches / extras actually decrease your win chance for that spin.

That's about all I can say other than each machine is set regardless to win 1 in X spins on average through the use of these random occurances. You need a statistician to put it all together, though.

P.S. You asked Compirate? Seriously? Compirate??? Pfft.
Currently Own: Nothing. I play mostly online now.

What we have here is a failure to pachicate

And hey, I have never failed to bow to anyone's superior knowledge on any given subject (it just happens so rarely ), as I do now:
