Default Super Sea Story Button Problem

I just recently acquired Super Sea Story from a neighbor. Everything seems to work well except for one problem. The buttons used to (I'm Guessing) bet or select games does not light up or work at all when pressed. I included a picture of the buttons, and also the unit in back where I followed the wires to.

I noticed a fuse in this unit, but it seems to be good. How can I really tell if it's blown?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, since I don't believe there are any pachinko repair shops here in Hawaii.

Those are the ball loan and card return buttons, explained here.

Pinballdave or Daverob, a member here, makes an enhanced dongle that allows these buttons to work. They are not needed for home play, but the E-dongle does enhance the experience

Thanks for such a quick reply!!

So, if I don't need these buttons for home play, then I have a new problem.

I can use the start button to select a game/level (out of 3), but then nothing happens with the trigger. I have plenty of balls in the top payout, and in the front. I select a game and twist the knob, nothing. I open the machine and drop some balls in "Start" and I get a payout. There also is no error number on the back led. Just a"worm" I read about on another thread.

I have reset the machine also. Nothing different.

I've never played a Sea Story (amazingly, as it's supposed to be the most popular game in Japan!), the 'Start' button is a large button on the front of the machine? Also known as the 'Chance' button, your selecting different ways to play the game I assume, and the button also comes into play during game play - it should light up and may have some indication on the screen that you need to push it.

So the shooter isn't shooting? You might check with your neighbor and see if he has the dongle for it. This is just a 25pinDB connector with a few electronic parts soldered to it to fool the game into thinking a card reader is present.

There's info about it on that same page here:

Great info! I feel like I'm really getting a good understanding of these machines. I just found out they existed a couple weeks ago.

So after reading the the articles, What should I do? My neighbor has no idea what a dongle is, and said he gave me everything he had.

I'm convinced this must be why it's not working. So, about the dongle..
Can I purchase one? Do I make one? I also read the Sanyo machines are tricky and I might need to Solder the payout board. I'm least comfortable about messing with the board.

    Thanks again!

You might be able to make one (look back in the link previous). If all else fails, PM me your address and I'll send one.
