    Default nishijin C, taken apart

OK. back from santa clara on mopar's tip

    here are the pix.

I cannot figure out why there is a 25 vac transformer connected to it.

the label on the back of the machine does show two voltages, 10 and 24 volts.

I took off the back covers and looked around, and it all looks mechanical to me. no solenoids or motors to activate, only light bulbs.

it is very dirty, so I'll soak the parts overnight to degrease.

I'm thinking to cut the transformer off and give it to johnny for his powerflash.

anyone have any ideas what could have been powered with the 24v?

the cell is pristine, so the rusty balls must not have run through.

the mechanism itself is a seesaw type jackpot payout, like the A's had, but up on top.

it's a bit unclear to me why they would have gone to all the trouble to redesign like this, unless some of the later ones had interesting mechanisms in the center?

That voltage thing is weird...there's nothing in the center that spins or something??

Can anyone translate any of that label??

in cleaning the machine, I realized that the inner linkages to the tulips couldn't be there if the center jackpot was, so maybe moving all the stuff to the left side allowed for more coupling of the center pockets to the side ones.

wasn't too dirty on the deep level. I took the tray and chutes off to scrub in the sink.

tomorrow the electrical and test runs.

p.s. johnny, the transformer is yours, it doesn't belong on this machine.

also, I went through all the pachitalk listings of nishijin C's, and vintage pachinko's pictures of C's, and they're all powered off 9 volts. no motors or solenoids or electric shooters.

who can we ask to translate the japanese?

A lot clearer pic of the words would be best, you can email it to me Mudfud. If anyone has any parts of that label in better shape, post them as well.

All I could get was 白ぃかもめXX式 which doesn't make any sense (in a google translation, anyway )

The 24 VAC may have been to drive an external bell and/or lights. This year of game was getting toward the end of the mechanical and into the electrical, so may be transitioning into 24VAC.

i can see the transformer is setup to only using half power 12volts

    the 3 plugs

the outside two are 24volt and by using one outside and the one in the middle that is the half... so its is curently set up for 12volt to run the lights

if your giving it to johnny he can run the solonoids off of the two outer prongs and the 12 volt lights from the middle prong and either one of the outer prongs...

i know the bulbs are at least 10volt in the power flash and will work fine under 12volt power.. they wil be brighter and burn out a little faster.. but then u can replace them with 12 volt if u wana..

im runing 10volt lights in my circuit racer machine with a transformer hooked up in the same mannor... its nice to only have to plug in one plug on a machine like that

    nice machine chewy

how about finding me a Power flash

    Compirate,

Here is a close-up shot of the same sticker on the back of my Nishijin C. As far as I can tell, it looks the same. Hopefully you will be able to translate.

Wow Mudfud! You sure are a late nighter! 3am and still working on the machine?! Whoa-Nellie!

Thanks for the Offer on that transformer! Can I come by and pick it up sometime today?

(I'm almost awake now! I'm just waiting for the coffee to kick in!)

I'll start working on the chrome while I'm waiting!

From what I'm getting from it, the top is possibly if the system is manual - flip style and the other voltages are if it's an electric shooter

白いかもめ手動式 - something about manually operated

白いかもめ電動式 - something about electromotive operated

The next thing down is the size of the glass
    ガラスのサイズ
    406 x 406 x 3t = 15.98" square (3t? ya got me?)

To the left side of the label:
    組立工程 検査
    Assembly Process Inspection

    総合検査
    General Inspection

Can't read all the characters at the bottom (missing marked as "X")

    万―X品上こ不Xな点かこさいましたらこ連絡Xくさい

"10000-X-X contact can not be on the point or circumstance IMA****ARA stinking X"

Might clear up if I can get the other characters

that makes TOTAL sense. must have had an option to have a auto-shooter, like the one that mopar got from fresno.

johnny's coming over for the transformer now, so I'm going to do a quicky on the lights.

I wish I could for real. I use the Japanese IME Pad for inputting Japanese characters in a text document (part of Windows). There are several ways to do it, one is character recognition - you draw them in a window and hopefully it will get what you drew and then you select the correct one. That's what makes the more complicated one's so interesting. 2 of the other easy ways are by number of strokes it takes to make up the character and by radicals (a few strokes that multiple characters have in common). Then I copy it all and paste it in a Babelfish or Google translation (sometimes both if it comes up really weird) and generally figure it out.

The shakey drawing below is the character for 'ball'.

    Hi Mudfud,

Has anyone thought that it might have come from a ship born casino?

good eye, mopar. yes, it was a dual output transformer that was PERFECT for johnny's powerflash: 25 volts and 12.5 volts. he came by and we soldered a third lead, took it home and has his new powerflash working, lights and all.

it's great having pachi friends in the neighborhood. johnny gave me a few parts from his nishijin A yesterday, too, to complete mine. kinda like a treasure hunt finding the parts, but it helps when someone else is looking for the same "treasures"

mike - what's the voltage on ship born casino's? is it different than land based ones?

the nishijin is clean and working great. just added a 9 volt battery. only the darn pins to polish... I'm a fan of this model over the B's. I think the seesaw jackpot is more reliable. I've had to add weights to a number of center jackpot machines when the pivot arm sticks (though usually sanyo's).

also, I can see how they could easily change from an "all 15" to "all 13", by swapping in a brass piece with slightly longer fingers to block the seesaw filling. (I had noticed that some of the C's came with only a 13 ball payout)

now that I have my A, B, C's, I just need an arepachi... hint, hint, mopar...

say compirate, what are the characters for "arepachi" again, so I can search YJA

also, how about "cell only", as I got tired scanning through the oodles of machines.

Tired? Shame on you! A true pachi addict never tires of any machines!

    アレパチ - Arepachi

    セル - Cell

Although some sellers say pachi's come from casino ships, I've never seen anything anywhere to validate it. I would think Japanese would prefer actual gambling, which they could do on a cruise ship.
