that's not the stock transformer. it looks like a doorbell transformer.

the stock one has two voltage outputs, one is 10v, one is 20v, and it's a little bigger.

I would do what sharmoni did and wire the lights to 9v. then, get a little bigger transformer for the solenoids. compirate's right that .83A might be a little low for those solenoids, especially since more than one has to engage for a couple of the actions. I'm guessing each one draws about 1 amp.

that face isn't bad. use the curved instrument I gave you with a piece of old rag or T shirt. moisten with 409 or windex and rub gently. as rusty said, don't wipe the printed labels, as they will wipe off.

nice score. can't wait to see it cleaned up. I can lend you my silver paint pen to freshen up the raised areas.

p.s. I did post a vid on the powerflash, if you need it, but this one has less movement than ours, and doesn't have the extra relay, by my recollection.

p.p.s. if you want the big transformer I took off of jaws (24 vac, 6 amps), you can have it, but it's kinda over kill for the powerflash (works on the modern pachinkos and pachislots)

Here is the transformer in my PF. Sorry the pics are dark and I don't remember the place online that I got it but the specs are: 110V input with a 24V output at 4 amps. This one operates the solenoids no problem and I paid only 12 dollars or so for it and I ended up buying a couple. I just did a google search for a transformer with those specs and several places came up.

What are the differences between the way the Chinaman VS Wings games? I assumed that they would be real similar, but you may be right about an extra relay. Please, tell me what you know oh wise one!

I'm doing the "Family Thing" right now, and I cant play with my new toy.

    hey johnny,

here is a quote from eddie's post

    ...

I have had some time to play it a little tonight (While still working on its new cabinet) and this is how it works.
If you notice on the Tulips there are Ks Qs Js and Aces in letters and 2 Tulips with Queen Images (They are Yellow)
A ball in the A or J or lettered Q opens only the Tulip that it went into + Jackpot
A ball in the K opens that Tulip and the 3 Tulips beneath and on its side of the cell + Jackpot
If you get a ball in any Open Tulip then That Tulip closes.
However if you have any open Tulip and you get a ball in a Queen Image Tulip then all of the OPEN Tulips Close!
A ball in either small Crown pocket just registers a Jackpot.
A ball in the HEART Pocket Opens all of the Tulips + Jackpot
A ball in the Jester center Pocket causes both of the Tulips beneath it to OPEN +Jackpot
as you can imagine with all of those Tulips open the Jackpots flow and so do the balls! Its almost like a mini fever and you have to keep up with the top hopper!

    ...

    here's the link

    Power Flush has Arrived!

I screen dumped a picture from his post

so the play is a little different than ours. I think that our machines were a bit newer than the one with the little man in the center.

I should be back in berkeley thursday night, so maybe I can visit.

    this was sharmoni's post

    My Power Flash seems simpler:

    Top center: opens all tulips.
Center pocket (hole under spinner gadget): opens both center tulips below.
Right and left top pockets: payout once, no tulips opened.
Top outside tulips: each opens the three tulips below.
Dreaded yellow tulips: only opened by center and top outside tulips. Either one closes all open tulips.
Middle outside and center tulips: can only be reached after being opened. Will open bottom tulips if they are closed.
Bottom outside and center tulips: open themselves only.

I've got a secret... I just asked Bill Connolly how he cleans his cells...
    Heres is his reply:

    Erik,

yes we use simple green, cotton balls and q-tips and chopsticks.

Cant wait to find out what variation of machine I have. Maybe there are 3 Different powerflash models?

Next Arepachi is mine Mopar! I'll keep an eye out for another PF for ya!

    Cant wait to start playing!

Try polishing compound instead of 409. I've had great luck getting even adhesives off with ease wrapping a terry cloth rag around a wooden dowel (chopstick is a great idea!) dipped in a little bit of compound. You don't risk moisture damage like liquid cleaners.

are you sure that polishing compound won't scratch? the polishing compound I have used has a fine grit to it, and that might not be safe on the coated cell face.

I am going to try some simple green on my sacrificial lamb that I have in the garage. We use a heavy concentrated version of simple green at work sometimes. So, i can control the H2O content.

Simple green seems to have a little bit of a slimely residue, but i'll experiment with different consistencies...

Does anyone have a good source for that "Pica Cell Cleaner"?

And what kind of Polishing Compound are you referring to? Thanks again!

My PowerFlash works a bit different as those described above. It appears that they Nishijin couldn't decide the best way to make it work! Here's a quick break down of how mine works:

There are a few pockets that do nothing other than pay a jack pot. Those are the spinner, the top of the spinner and the two 'Wing Holes' on each side of the center target. (BTW, the center target is a bird, a phoenix I believe.)
There are small spinners above the Queen and the Joker which prevents balls from entering unless that pocket is open.
A ball in the Jack or the Ace will open that pocket and pay a jackpot.
A ball in the King will open all the pockets below it, including the Joker and pays a jackpot.
When a ball goes into the Joker, it will first CLOSE all the corresponding pockets (same suit) and then pay a jackpot. (This is frustrating a heck!)
A ball in the center target can either fall into the crown or go to the side. If it goes to the side, it will fall into one (randomly) of the lower smaller 'wings' and open all the pockets on the same side. Again, a ball in the open Joker closes them all.
A ball in the crown of the center target, opens ALL the pockets including the Ace. However, the Joker will still close it's respective side. The ace is unaffected by a Joker.

And here's a link to the original thread when I purchased mine: http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/vint...a-jealous.html

They're just trying to keep you guessing 'now how is this machine set up'. Parlor makes a few bucks till you figure it out.

    rusty,

the one that you, johnny (his first one) and I have is the newer one, I think. the one with the thunderbird looking thing.

the one johnny just bought, with the little man in the center, is the simpler one, so probably the older one.

seems like pachinkos got modified a lot along the way. guess they "evolved" eh?

guess they had to keep things interesting to get people to keep playing.

Yep I think so too. The PF probably represented more expense/investment per machine than a typical machine of that era and to recoup the money as players figured it out they may have tweaked gameplay over the course of production. My 2nd PF should be here in a week or so and I'll post if the gameplay differs from what we've seen so far.

I use a commonly available polishing compound. It actually shines plastic. I'm sure it has fine abrasives in it, but it's not a rubbing compound. The stuff works great on chrome, plastic and painted surfaces. What I like about it is it is hard to do damage with the stuff, and you can try it in small increments if you're worried about that.

It has done wonders for tobacco staining on some of my plastic pachi parts,
