Or you can get fancy and and a remote shut-off so you don't have to bend down.

Yeah while these games are designed to be run all the time, theyre always run in places where people are always around and fire extinguishers are on hand.. theres no reason to build them any more safely than any household appliance. Also theyre probaby designed to last a few years if that, and with regular maintainence. your games arent going to last if you leave them on.

Those remote power things are cool. I might see what I can rig up out of a garage door opener, I've never seen such a device for australian power outlets.

about remote control and power surge protector. I would use a wired one, not wireless.

radio frequency control, X10 technology and so on can turn on themselves because of many situation.

My basement lights (where projector is) is controlled by X10 technology, when movie start, light goes down slowly. Because X10 technology travel through electric wires if there's electric noise, sometime the lights turn on be themselves. My projector screen is RF controlled, and sometime, I go to the basement and find my projector screen pulled down.

a power surge protector wired with the remote control will not have this problem. but, I must say I would still use the old fashion with a switch, it would allow me to check the power surge at same time for anomaly, disconnected wire and so on.

How about the surge protector hooked up to the clapper?!

    Clap On - Pachinko!
    Clap Off - No Pachinko!

I used to eat lots of natural foods until I found out most people die of natural causes.

Well...ok, i'll trust you on that. But so far i've had no problems with the pachinkos going "runaway" on me, and as many times as the power grid goes out in my area it hasn't affected the remote cord atm. And not too many people around me in my apartment building don't seem to have a remote signal that's on the same frequency as my remote cord. Will let you know if it does go "freaky-deaky" on me.

I like X10..when it all works right

I once had a lamp next to the tv plugged into a clapper, every time people clapped on tv the lamp would go on and off

    It was funny but annoying!!

also, I just bought some remote power point switchers off ebay, I'll post back once I've tried them. theres no reason why they should switch by themselves with noise from the power point.. how often do remote garage doors open by themselves? It's the same technology..
We'll see what theyre like in practice though.

holy crap those remote things are the best thing I've bought in a looooong time. I've got a game room with 7 games running in it, I used to run around and plug in three different plugs and point my ass at whoever I had with me, now I press one button and bang, all of them are on. I just used all the recievers on the same channel.
