Default Pachinko tech vs. American slot tech

American Slots' core systems are based on generated random numbers.
The machine randomizes seed numbers continuously 24/7 whether in use or not .

Seven milliseconds after you drop your quarter in an American slot,
    the result is already determined.

The spinning reels on Vegas slots are only for show.

What I don't know is, if skill-slots' programs are more linear.

    Any thoughts?

According to an Aruze patent I found, it appears that, in a pachislo, the outcome of any given spin is determined when the joystick is pulled. It is done by a random number generator and a lookup table. However, on some machines there are some modes during which the random number generator is not used, and and stop buttons determine the outcome. But, even then, it was the random number generator that determined if you got into that special mode in the first place.

You say some machines. Did it suggest that other machines may be random at all times? Also, is this an Aruze only function, or more than likely across the industry?

I suspect that many of the older machines were always controlled by the random number generator.

I'm assuming that most of the newer machines are now offering some modes where the stop buttons determine the outcome. I think the players in Japan are demanding this in a machine. Competition being what it is, most manufactures would have to give them what they want.

There were also a number of lawsuits where Aruze was taking other manufacturers to court to using features like this that they patented. So that would clearly indicate that other's were doing it. Note that Aruze lost on appeal.
