    Default Decorations for your GameRoom

There is always something in a picture of someone's gameroom that catches my eye and I begin to wish I had the same thing.

Ebay is loaded with neat items, but some things that have caught me eye include:
    • Flashy Las Vegas sign

    • Plasma beer bottle display

    • Various LED signs

    • Various neon signs

What IYO are some of the best objects or methods you have in decorating your gameroom (or Pachislo display)?

What kinds of...Lights? Signs?... Posters?... Cups?... etc...

    Anything specific?
    Pictures are always great.

I just picked up one of these to sit on top (across) my two machines. (I got mine from Spencer's for $29)

I also programmed one of these to display a few "casino-themed" messages once in awhile...this also sits on one of my machines.

And lastly, for some room decor...also from Spender's (on sale for $25):

I found the palm tree at Wal Mart for $5.54 and the base for 2.64 plus tax. It is kind of a bright light . But it looks kind of neat. The cards I got at Spencer's for $14.95. I had a $5.00 off coupon from the Spencer's internet site. But had to buy something for 1 cent more to get the $5.00 off.

I picked up a few of those Walmart neons last weekend. You're right. They are BRIGHT. They were too bright to put in the same room as my other neon - made them all look dim. So I moved them over to the pinball room. They are bright enough that they are the only illumination I need in that room!

I was over in Germany when I was in the Army. That is called a "flippy". It is an empty beer bottle that has a wire porcelain cap. I do not know if they still use those.

    Default BEER

I KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT BEER!!!!! THAT IS A 'GROLSCH' BOTTLE SHOULD BE AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL SUPERMARKET!!
ALSO TAKE THE SUPER BRIGHT NEON OUTSIDE AND GIVE IT A DUSTING OF THE SAME COLOR PAINT THAT WILL DARKEN IT DOWN(CAUTION: BETTER TO APPLY 3-5 COATS THAN TO MAKE IT TOO DARK THE FIRST TIME)

Don't have a place where I can have a dedicated game room yet. However, as I think of the possibilities, I can envision a room with a table that can be used for multiple uses like casual eating with the family or playing poker with a poker top added. I just bought one (Poker top) that I saw on sale that seemed especially nice. Have it put away for some day.... I can also imagine a couple movie posters with gambling themes. I have one that I got on eBay that is supposed to be an original. Has only one problem that I noticed and that was a crease (dogeared) corner. That is from Maverick with Jodi Foster, Mel Gibson and James Garner. I don't worry about the defect as, properly matted, you would never see the problem. I might also get a poster from Casino that has Joe Pesci, Robert DeNiro, Sharon Stone. I am jealous though as a friend of mine has the same poster that was signed.

Something else I have some of, and keep an eye out for, Slot Glass. There is a lot of it on eBay. Belly glass or table glass from actual slot machines. If you look you can even find kits for various machines. Seems that with the US type machines the architecture is identical for most machines. For example, IGT machines. There are only a few different models and variations like counter or slant top, round top and the standard flat top. You can open your machine and change the reel strips, chips and all the glass and change a Double Diamond machine to a 10x pay if you want. Get the entire kit and put all the glass together in a frame with the reel strips behind the face glass... Matte it all up and frame it. That would be cool. I saw one person, don't know if he is still out there, who puts slot glass together in stained glass borders and frames it in light boxes. That would be cool also.

All my souvenir glassware from Vegas. Chip Frames from Cassidy Frames http://www.cassidyframes.com with select chips from my collection. I got a nice one a few years back with a frame in dark cherry finish. I don't recall how big it is but last I knew you could get them to hold 60 or more chips. A couple frames full of select souvenir chips would be nice. Might be able to get them to hold tokens as well. I have a small collection of $1 slot tokens that would be nice to display as well. Then there are table layouts that you can find from time to time. I have a Trump Roulette felt and an Orleans Blackjack felt. I got the blackjack felt while playing blackjack early one morning/late one night.... They came to our table at 4am to tell us they would be closing the table at the end of the deck. They were changing the felts. A friend and I asked if we could get the felts. After they finished stripping the staples and all from about 3 tables they handed us the old layouts. A bit dirty, some cig burns and a couple small tears but should be able to be re-stretched and framed or mounted to a new table top.

I also have a lot of pictures I have taken in Las Vegas. The Sphinx at Luxor, Mirage Volcano, Fremont Street Experience etc. Frame some of those up maybe. Then, NEON would always be good touches here and there to accompany all the lights of the Pachislo machines that I would like to some day have.

Not meaning this in any bad way or anything but have a suggestion. When posting photos on your posts, try and limit the width of the pictures to less than 650 wide. When posting too wide the page is forced wider and messages are spread out to a space wider than the average computer monitor. Therefore, readers have to scroll back and forth to view or read the posts. When posts get more than a couple lines long, or when a lot of posts follow a wide photo, it gets to be a pain to scroll back and forth.

Further, limiting the size of photos saves you and/or the webmasters and webhosts server space. Also it helps pictures come up on other peoples computers more quickly. Especially for those who do not have broadband etc. I usually create photos about 320x or 640 wide whenever possible. Also, I reduce the quality of my jpg photos to about medium quality. There is no need for best quality on a computer monitor as the monitors are usually not that good to begin with. Further, if the photos are anything that you might not want people using too freely without your control etc. by limiting quality you limit image theft. I find medium compression and smaller size photos are adequate for adding to my posts but are of limited use to someone who might steal my images for other uses.

Further, I can imagine, just thinking of it, some people taking photos of games posted here and using them in their own ads on eBay without the original owners permission. It might be wise to put watermarks with your initials etc. on pictures that might be sensitive in such a way. Then, if someone tries to use it commercially without your permission it will be obvious who's picture it is.

For example, the following photos are 650 or less wide.

Thank you I will do that in the future. I have a hard enough time just figuring out how to post a picture. But I can see what you mean about the size of the picture.

I know what you mean. It can be difficult figuring out how to upload your pictures, or how you are going to host them yourself or are you going to use other services to do it... Then, while this software for this group is pretty simple, some can be difficult to try and post a picture into your messages. typing in brackets and img at the beginning and/img at the end... With this program you just highlight the link and click img.

Unfortunately it isn't easy to tell someone HOW to resize pictures as there are so many different programs for editing your pictures and knowing them all would be tough for the average person. Some don't go into the detail of allowing the user to set the size of pictures in terms like I mentioned, 640 x 480 or 320 x 240, or whatever. They might just have Large Medium or Small etc. Many people do try to post full size images as they come right off their cameras without realizing the effects at first. Then to throw in the issue of compression and image quality, it can be a lot.

Just wanted to point out some suggestions that might make things easier for more people. The bigger savings to the individuals like us can also be great when you consider the amount of space or load time it takes for a picture. Take the compressed 650x333 image like my train picture. that is 99K compared to that same image full size of 2494x1272 at it's full resolution and minimal compression at over 3.2 MEG.

Thank you for understanding. I, for one, enjoy seeing a lot of pictures and look forward to seeing more.

Thanks again for the info. A buddy of mine email me the correct way to resize a picture. I use Photo Studio 5. He walked me thru the directions. So now I will do it correctly.

By the way where are you in IL? PM me.

I found this link awhile back and thought you all might be interested. This is a good place to post it. No pachislos or pachinkos but what a great game room. i don't think I've ever seen blacklight carpet before.
