I think there is only one type of Lumina frame.

Do you mean will a Lumina cell fit in the frame that the new Star Wars is in? If you do, it won't. This frame is the Crystella.

Ah Just stumbled over davrobs page
Looks like the lumina frame had two styles.
I was just wondering if they are both compatable.
I have the older style frame.

Here is a picture of the cell I was going to buy, any one have an opinion on it?

That one's for the Lumina GT frame and I don't think cells are compatible with both.

I could be wrong. Maybe Compirate will be along soon, he will know for sure.

Dead Aggressor is in the 'Lumina GT' frame.

It appears to me that the Lumina GT version is just a facelift of the original Lumina frame. From all the pictures I've seen of the new cells, they look identical in size and shape and appear to use the same circuit boards and have the same frame connections as the original Lumina games.

The first game to use the GT frame (Patrush) was also listed for sale as a cell upgrade, so I'd assume that they are compatible, but not having tried it myself I'm not willing to commit to a definite answer. However if I saw a cell I liked, then the odds are good enough for me to take a gamble on it working in one of my older Lumina frames.

Does it mention anything about compatibility in the listing for this cell?

No, they will not work (or for long) in a standard Lumina frame.

The lighting/chance button are wired differently, so there is a potential to burn out something. The power outputs for lights and LED's aren't quite the same, so it could be sending incandescent power to an LED, or LED power to a light, or to a different combination of lights than the cell is wired for. I have a Patrush G (first gen for the Lumina GT). It works OK, but I started to smell the faint familiar smell of the magic smoke, so I haven't fired (poor choice of words) it up since. An easy way to tell on these games is on a standard Lumina, there is a small and a large pink connector at the top (small - sound, large - lights and chance button). On the Lumina GT, the large connector is green (socket just to the left of the battle counter connections in the first pic in post 3). I haven't found one of these machines yet that connector/socket colors aren't supposed to match. Hopefully some Lumina GT's will show up in the US some time soon.

But still, if the price is cheap, go for it, set it aside till a frame shows up. I was looking at that one myself!
