    Freeview and Satellite here

although to be quite honest I don't personally watch that much TV, so I refuse to be paying for it, I already pay enough for a TV licence to the good old BBC

Although years ago I did pay for SKY back in the days when it was reasonable and MTV was free!!

I have had dish network sat for about 10 years or more. Ever since I went to the cable company with the cable box & in the lobby (i front of about 10 customers) informed the manager there in which hole & how far he could stick the box.
For so reason the cable company can how to my home the next day & not only turn off my cable but they cut the cable wire off my house so it could not be turned on again.
So now I have satellite TV.
Works great 95% of the time. during real bad storms I lose the picture sometimes.

after having direct tv for 7 years and close to $70.00 a month with taxes,

thats about $5,000.00 spent to watch tv!!

I cancelled and started using the antenna I had bought for my dish for local channels.

our park doesn't allow outdoor antenna and this is a curved one that clips right on the dish. i tried about 6 indoor ones with poor luck.

I have 2 converter boxes on 2 tv's and my new 32" HD tv has an HD tuner.

I now get 29 channels, many of them in HD, all for free

    I'm a happy camper!!!

don't get suckered in by the $19,99 dish offer, thats for the first 6 months, after that the rates go up and your bill for basic package will be $47.00 a month with taxes.

you are locked in for 24 months and if you cancel you get charged a hefty canecelation fee

I use cable but the only reason for that is because I need a high speed internet connection. So, I get my basic cable along with a 5meg internet connection. Then I disconnected my local phone system and signed up with Vonage. I love Vonage, $25 a month for unlimited calling and I get emails with my voice messages on them.

However, I refuse to purchase the next level of service (digital) because of the big jump in cost. Besides, with my new HD TV I get the Music Choice digital music channels for free! (They don't have the right filter on my cable... don't tell anyone!)

We have cable. We tried to get sat. but both the companies couldn't pick a reliable signal because of the trees. And I am not getting rid of my trees. We also have cable internet and Vonage and are very satisfied.

The big problem where I live is that I am in a VERY Rural area. So the new digital TV doesnt do so well here. And I dont REALLY want to spend the $$ getting an antenna installed for it. Cable does us well, and even with the additional channels, Its still WAY behind broadcast digital TV. The only reason I am trying to get Digital over the air TV to work at all is in case of emergencies when Cable is out. Otherwise we are happy with cable despite the large bill every month.

I have Time Warner. They're thieves, but it was the only company available for my area last year for high speed internet.

The best thing about them...I have to use component, not HDMI. When I asked why, and said it was crazy that I paid for a high deff TV, but can't use the hdmi, I was told "SONY TV's don't work well with our boxes." aren't Sony TV's like one of the top 3 brands???

Time Warner told you that eh? Time Warner told me that the HDMI ports are NOT active and I cannot use them. I too have all my converter boxes hooked up via the component cable..

my 89 year old neighbor doesn't know anything about the new digital boxes, I set his up for him a few months ago for use with his antenna.

I went over today and did a new scan for him,

he's getting 25 channels with 2 jerryrigged rabbit ears out in his screen room, he's very happy now, he can get all the PBS channels nice and clear

I've got Time Warner and the standard digital box DOES have HDMI. They told me some of their boxes do and some don't.
