Default Is it hard to get into a slot that has the keys locked in?

I mentioned picking up a pachislo machine to one of my friends and he told me he had a Vegas type slot that he would give me because he locked the keys in it.

He said he tried to call the company that made it, but they had gone out of business. I told him I would bring over the key to my Marvel Heroes pachislo to see if the key would work on it...but I have no idea if they are keyed alike. I asked him if it had any opening in the back (like my machine does) and he said it didn't.

So if we try the key and it doesn't work...how hard is it and how expensive is it to find someone to get a slot machine unlocked? Would a regular locksmith be able to do it?

We have a couple of professionals here, if he knows the maker and name, they may be able to help. My thought is to drill a hole somewhere and take a look inside and see if it can be opened with a long screwdriver or something, but where to drill the hole so as not to drill into a circuit board or bundle of wires...

If it's a standard round key lock, those are supposedly easy to pick, I've heard with just a pen cap...

Thanks...I was just fishing for preliminary answers. If I get the machine and more specifics, I'm sure to post again.

Hopefully someone can help me out.

Turn it on it's side, reach up through the coin overflow hole and you can release the latch on the door. If you have popeye arms like me, You may need to cut the hole a little larger. You need to get your hand up to the middle of the door...roughly up to your elbow.

And keep the phone nearby and the other hand free so that you can call the paramedics when your arm gets stuck.

In most cases on American machines you drill the lock and then replace it.

u can drill the lock out and get a new one ir take it to a lock smith.. i have a buddy that a lock smith he said he would open it for me and i told him id kick him a 20 for his time.. he said dont worry about it and would come right over.. he showed up and had the back and the cash drawer open in less then 5 min.. i mean it less then 5... i mean really whats the point in a lock?? to keep the honest and the stupid out i guess

any ways my point is the locks are perty easy to have picked... after he opened them we unscrewed the locks and he took them to work cut me new keys to fit the old locks and all is right with the world.. and the bonus is the locks dont look all shiny and new instaled in a 50 year old machine...

get a quote from a smith befor u take a drill to it...

but the last thing ill say is drilling is probaly goan be allot cheaper unless u got a buddy smith

    luck to ya

Agree with Chrisdice. Just drill it out. You can get replacements at Happ Controls. I bought a bunch of locks keyed the same and put them in most of my non-pachi games, so one key fits all.
