As with all things, follow the money.

Ask yourself who would benefit if pachislos were illegal.

They Are Illegal Here In Washington And That Is why I Go With Pachinko. But If It Was Legal Or Someone Would ship One To Washington State Then I Would Get A Couple. They Are Cheaper Than Pachinko. This Is Just Stupid. If You Want One You Have To Cross State Lines To Get It And That Is Just A Hassle.

    Excellent rant, Astroboy!

Yep, ol' Big Brother strikes again. Because we, the people, are too stupid to make decisions on our own, as many a politician has shown.

We don't know how to take care of ourselves, don't know the "right foods" to eat, and on and on! So they make stupid laws to protect ourselves from ourselves.

One of these days these "super-brains" will realize people, including children, have drowned in bathtubs and they'll try to ban them too.

Do one of the states that currently outlaw pachislos, not have indian casinos?

Every kind of machine is legal here in Minnesota. I could buy and have a brand new American slot if I wanted to pay the price for it (my wife would love a Pharoah's Fortune) and we have many Indian casinos in the state. I do not see how having pachislo's would have any impact on them. We may even go a little more since getting pachislos.
    and a few others.

To continue with this discussion, i took my 4 year old to Chuck E Cheese this weekend. The little guy loves it. We went around and played a bunch of games that are based on "chance", and in my opinion, no different than how Pachislos are used.

One of them was a tower that has LED lights going up and you have to slap/hit the "stop" button. If you hit it right, it will spit out reward tickets (tokens) that can be exchanged for prizes. To me, the makers of this machine will say that "skill" is a component of the game and therefore, it is not all up to chance. So it is ok to put these in every Chuck E Cheese in the nation and for children to play these games.

So i'm thinking to myself....the CA government allows hundreds of thousands of kids, perhaps millions, to use tokens purchased with money, to engage in a game of so called skill (just go ahead and try to see how "easy" it really is to hit that "bonus" stop that pays out the big number of tickets), but cannot apply the same logic and theory to those who wish to own or play a Pachislo machine. Go figure. I still say these lame politicians should go put their head in a toilet and flush. They're lame.

oh, and another Chuck E Cheese machine to bring up - they have this one where you roll tokens down a metal ramp onto a spinning board that has lines and sensors on it. If you can get the token to fall within certain lines and targets, you get a whole bunch of tickets to redeem. So again, here's a game where the manufacturer will say it's a game of "skill" when the entire time we were there no one could get the "big bonus" target (aka "jackpot").

then, there's this this "pinball/pachinko" looking machine where you shoot the ball into play and the goal is to get the ball to fall through the middle of about 8 different slots. Each of the slots have rubber bumpers, so getting the ball to shoot right through the exact middle slot is extremely unlikely. Again, they will argue that this is a game of skill.

meanwhile, the same rules do not apply to Pachislo.

I wonder, if you replaced the token payout hopper with a ticket dispenser, would a pachislo suddenly become a redemption machine, and thus be legal to own and operate in these states (and as it's a nice safe friendly redemption machine rather than an evil corrupt gambling device, it could also be played by kids).

You would have to have a facility to exchange the tickets for 'merchandise' on the premesis to legally operate a redemption machine though. Maybe you could include some special prizes, which you could take out to a small window in your shed, where they can be exchanged for more tokens

Either that or put a statue of a big RAT on your house. That should work!
