    Default Are these machines hopeless?

    Hi Everyone,

Someone gave me 2 machines for free. I know one is hopeless because the back is entirely gone but I thought I'd post the photo in case anyone thought it was interesting. The other one has the back but is missing the entire door etc on the front.

Any idea what I can do with them? I feel bad just putting them in the dump but I don't know what else to do with them.

Also someone has mentioned that it was interesting that my good machine says "tulip" on the flowers so I thought I'd mention that one of these machines says "new poppy".

    Thanks!!

there are some good parts on those.

the second one could be used as a single shot, just see about rerouting the balls to the bottom tray. use a large piece of plastic to cover the front.

it is an interesting face. don't think I have seen one that brand before. the jackpot with the zig zag is intriguing. do you see a brand on it?

if I lived closer to you, I'd come get it as a project machine. which side of canada are you on... no, stop, stop...?

p.s. sell off the parts, at least, as this can total up more than the whole machine's worth.

I have seen people here asking for the trays and other parts that get easily broken. I think you could sell and ship lots of parts easily. All the way down to the nails. But I hate to see machines with nice cells like that go to waste.

Maybe watch for some real junk machines that you could take the doors off and paint them. You may even be able to use the back works off of another junk machine.

That is what I see when I look at them. But I have on my rose colored glasses

Yes I agree, tis a shame they are not complete as the cell faces are interesting...

If you are not able to restore them, then I'm sure you would be able to sell lots of parts from them to PT Members here, there are always people in need of spare parts

Wow...you have "just enough" of the machines to cause you to wince at the prospect of dumping them, but there is "just enough missing" that causes you to shrug your shoulders in defeat.

I concur that you could easily break them down, advertise the parts for sale, and just keep them in a small box somewhere for the future. The money and energy that will be required to make them workable is likely to be too high, but as it has been noted, people are always looking for the odd spinner, tray, tulip, etc.

On the other hand, I saw someone here (not sure who) who took the board of a pinball machine and made it into an awsome coffee table...to the extent that you have that level of creativity, you might try something like that with the machine without a backing.

IMO, the idea of making them functional pachinkos is not a likely prospect...with the knowledge that you have nothing to lose, think outside the box and see what other function you can come up with.

    Good luck!
I'm not addicted to Pachinkos. I can quit at any time. Did I tell you about the three machines that I have on the way?

I agree wholeheartedly with the others...

I hate to see a machine cell in that great condition go to waste, considering the effort I'm going through to save a totally trashed one right now. I would (if you have the space) save them until you find another machine that is a disaster but is complete in its component count and transfer the mechanics. If you decide that the machines are not worth saving, I would very carefully disassemble them to component level and part them out - this would be the best value to you.

I for one, need many of the components and small parts from a "dead" machine to continue my work - down to pins. I'm sure others are in the same boat and would make quick consumers of "scrap" parts.

The tulips appear to be identical to my Sanyo(?) "Ginza" green machine - Which is the only one I've ever seen of that brand with tulips like that. Third picture in on my profile.

I would hate to see a machine scrapped, but please, if you do, let us know. I would buy some pins and the tulips as well as many other parts. I'm sure I'm not alone.

Thanks for the suggestions, I didn't even realize you could sell the parts. I'm going out of town until the end of May and then I'll take a look and see if I can dismantle them to sell the parts. Better than throwing them out. Do I have to post on the auction site? Can I just mention it here and get private messages? I took a look at the auction site and it didn't make any sense to me...

It's too bad the playfields don't have the pockets in the same place, or you would be able to make 1 nice machine out of the two without too much hassle.

You could always make your own playfield though, if you feel creative enough. Probably more work trying to make a door if the other one won't fit, unless you're good with metal.

I've got a salvageable Nishijin, but I could easily take the front off it, slap it on the front of your frog machine and have a working machine.

Let me know where you are in Canada and we can maybe deal.

I couldn't find any PG rated pictures of Canadians streaking. Does that mean that Canadians are too reserved to streak?
