Help with a dead Universal Pachislo...

Hello all!

Found this board via NLG slot forum...

First time poster. I have been a member for awhile and look around from time to time - but now I need YOUR help

I own a working Universal Frozen Nights Pachislo - no problems with that one...

BUT, I recently purchased a non-working Universal Cranky Contest. I figured since it is almost identical to my Frozen Nights, it would be easy to troubleshoot because I would just be able to swap parts...but I think the main board is not working. I've worked on full size slots for years - so I have some idea what I'm doing.

OK - When you turn the machine on, florescents lights come on and the main board (not sure if that is the right name, in the top of the machine) has lights - but the front displays do not light up and can not play game. The board is responding - you can push the buttons/move the reels and see the associated lights go on and off on the MB. One difference I noticed from my working game and this one - there is a light on top in the middle that is flashing on the non-working one..I forget what it is labeled - will look when I get home. The working one that light is solid. I assume that is trying to tell me there is an error. I tried disconnecting all cables except power - same thing. I then moved the board from the non-working machine into the working one incase it was a power issue - does the same thing and than light still blinks.

Any of this make sense? Anything else I can try? I have attach a pic of the machine - sorry it is bad quality - I will see if I can get a better one...

maybe its in error, inside the pachislo do you have a reset key, if not you could replace the lock with an on/off toggle switch.

if you have a door key try turning it to the left!!

Hello!

Tried both - key within the power supply has been replaced with a toggle switch already. Also tried turning door key to left. I can also see the corresponding lights light up on the MB when I do both of those - so the MB sees the switches being toggled. Do I need to do it in any specific order? Like holding one while switching it on or anything?

shut off machine, turn toggle switch on, them turn machine back on, look on the outside of door for a odds number to appear. set odds level, press jpystick a few times and turn toggle switch off while leaving machine on

Yes - I did try that one - I've done that before on my working machine. Never get any numbers on the display on the front. Any way to do like a clear?

If not, anyone have any suggestions where I can get a replacement mother/main board?

If its truly the main/mother board it would be cheapier and easier just to get a new machine and use or sell the one you have as a parts machine. Those older type machines can be had for $50 or so.
That belly glass would look nice on the wall.

i need close up pictures of the machine lit up inside and out especially the blinking light . i personally suspect the machine is in error or in the setup mode . the switch that replaced the reset key may be faulty or shorted .open the power supply and remove one of the leads while holding down the spin knob and see if it goes back to game mode .
