    Default Favorite Anime

I grew up watching Speed Racer, Gigantor, Kimba etc. (not sure if these were called Anime back then)

Now as I've gotten into Japanese culture, I've found many new (new to me) Anime's.

I started with the ever popular Evangelion

Now I'm on to Galaxy Railways and Genesis of Aquarian
(since I have both of those pachi's)

What are some of the other animes that are good?

I've found Eureka Seven,Gundam and now Burst Angel.

    Any other must see animes?
    My favorite color is Ham

    Cool Re: Favorite Anime

Hmmm, I'm not to in to anime...but I used to like Speed Racer and Tank Police...The only thing I've watched in the last few year was Samurai Champloo..I thought that was really good..and the Samurai Champloo pachis that came out a few months back looked really cool too!!

Oh yes, Ghost in the Shell is good.

Also any anime by Hayao Miyazaki. These are not a series, but stand alone anime movies. All are great.

I agree all of Miyazaki's movies are great and so is Ghost in the Shell.

I have a huge collection of anime and it is hard to narrow it down. There is so many genre and that makes it hard. Just make sure it is in a genre you like. That is the most important aspect when choosing a anime series.

Some of my other favs are Cowboy Bebop, Eva, Outlaw Star, Rurouni Kenshin, Code Geass, Bleach, One Piece, Air Gear and uncut Voltron (Beast King Golion)

Some non-violence favs are Genshiken, and Hikaru no Go (about Go)

My soft side favs are anything by CLAMP. Love Hina and Negima are also favs; there is just something about teen angst that draws me in.

My 1st and all time fav is Ranma 1/2. This is the series that got me into modern anime some 15 years ago.

I can go on and on. My fav list is getting longer and longer the more I think about it.

The first anime's I remember watching were Kimba, and Prince Planet. Then Astroboy, Marineboy, and Speed Racer. While not anime, I loved watching Ultraman, and Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot.

I have an enormous anime collection, so it's hard to pick favorites, but at the top of the list I'd say... One Piece, Tenchi Muyo, Ranma 1/2, Gundam Wing, Ah! My Goddess, Love Hina, Prince of Tennis, Yakitate!! Japan, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, Naruto... etc.

As for movies, anything Hayao Miyazaki (Lupin III -Castle of Cagliostro is probably my favorite, followed by Princess Mononoke and Laputa - Castle in the Sky). Gundam Wing Endless Waltz is awesome too.
    Gotta catch 'em all Pa-chink-o

    Oh, where to start...

I grew up on Uchu-Senkan Yamato that you guys outside Japan saw as Starblazers. 'Loved that show... just loved it. I was a big fan of Mazinger too. I wouldn't call them 'must see' anime, but they're my earliest recollection.

Gundam is one of those I would label as a must see. The original One Year War and maybe 0083 are the hallmarks (though I have a thing for F91 too).

And then there is Macross that too many Americans confuse with Robotech. The latter title is a fine piece of work, and I am a fan, but the stories are different even if the animation source is not. (Robotech is actually three stories knitted into one... four if you count the first Robotech movie that never screened.) Macross really stands on its own very well and I love it just for that. The ova, Macross Plus, is a milestone by itself all anime fans should see.

I liked Ranma 1/2 and I'd encourage fans to get some exposure but, of Takahashi Rumiko's stories, Maison Ikkoku is my absolute favorite.

Patlabor is one of those show I like to recommend too. It's a near-future keystone cops and robbers with big robots show that translated very well into several good films that shed the comedy for really good drama, but without being boring.

Evangelion changed my life. It came out right about the time I was having a bit of a crisis of faith. The imagery and tremendous license taken with spiritual subjects had me thinking critically about what I really believed in. And I love giant robot anime too.

By then, anime was big worldwide. But the Japanese recession had hit and the quality kinda dropped off across the board. Cowboy Bebop had some promise as did Full-Metal Alchemist but they both quickly turned into fight-of-the-week shows only thinly disguised as marketing vehicles for toys and crap. I'm still kinda waiting for the real quality storytelling to come back to anime.

Here are some of my favorites.

Sorted by "what ever I see in my collection of approx. 1000 Anime DVD's...

Golden Boy Kintaro Oe and his mountainbike. Travelling through Japan and whit his unaptness he solves all the problems. So funny...

Initial D Japanese Downhill Drift Races. A boy and his Toyota AE86. Good serie.

Ghost in the Shell as mentioned by others. A must see.

All Lupin Movies I also like those a lot. A lot of fun and action.

KinnikuMan In US known as Muscle Man. I loved this serie when I was a kid. I had tons of those plastic toys. Currently they have a brand new limited complete box on amazon.jp with 1000 plastic mens. But the price of approx. 700$ is still a bit too high

Cowboy Bebop One of my top 3 favourites. A lot of action. I like the story and the funny charakters. Imagine what Ed could have done for us if she would have joined this forum

Gundam Also great anime with one of the most famous charakters the Gundam Robo... BTW: if someone was looking for gundam 0083 3rd DVD which is sold out since long time, there is a new release of complete box in June!

City Hunter Ryo Saeba works as a Sweeper. Only weakness are the

Samurai Champloo I think thats the result when the old japanes world meets hiphop.

All the Miyazaki Movies You can't do anything wrong when you buy one of these. They are all great! Liked best Nausicaä, Porco Rosso and Totoro.

Evangelion and Rhaxephon: Both are great, Evangelion is the original and Rhaxephon a good copy. I liked most in Rhaxephon that they are drinking Ramune...

Ninja Scroll The serie not the movie

Hokuto no Ken aka Fist of the North Star Today parents wouldnt allow kids to see movies with heads exploding

AND HERE COMES MY ALL TIME BEST EVER MOVIE:
Be-Bop High School: I am pretty sure that most don't know this one. Its about two Colleague guys. Always looking for women always in trouble.
