Default Need help finding a part

I am working on a 1990-ish Nishijin wing type machine for a friend, and have discovered that the gears within the motor that operates the jackpot see-saw are slipping and cannot move the see-saw (on the vintage flipper style machines, the jackpot see-saw works on gravity, but in these “classic-modern" machines, they are motorized!).

Anyway, I have posted some photos of the machine and the motor in question. I would like to know if anyone on this forum would know where I might find a replacement (or substitute), or if someone might have one on a parts machine they would be willing to sell.

As for the machine, this one is cool! When the machine goes into a fever, the girl in the center starts losing her clothes. If you get the balls into the right pockets in the right order, she gets totally naked. (The wife doesn’t think it is as “cool” as I do, but my teenage boys do!)

Please let me know if you have an idea where I can find a replacement motor that will work.

    Thanks!

Lightbulb Re: Need help finding a part

I thought I might have the same problem with my new find (Nishijin Napalm) which seems to be the same machine back as yours. When plugged in, the payout motor in the rear would just turn a half turn stop then return to its start position and do it again, and again. NO JOY.
Look at the yellow painted levers/wires on the bottom of the reward ball track on the attached photo. Push the levers/wires to the right (Simulates a full reward track) and see if it works now. That "fixed" mine and allowed me to clear the 200 ball, jam.

Thanks for the suggestion, Doc! Unfortunately, this fix did not work in my case. I tried as you suggested, but the end results are the same.

When a ball rolls into the Jackpot see-saw and causes it to rock downward, there is a small magnetic sensor that engages the jackpot payout motor, which then turns the gears shown in photo #5 in my post above. Depending on which hole the winning ball went into, the motor will turn the gears one or two full rotations which will payout either 7 or 15 balls.

When a ball rolls into the jackpot see-saw on this machine the motor is engaged as expected, but the innner gears of the motor seem to be stripped, like the plastic teeth are missing or something. The payout mechanism gears want to turn, and turn freely by hand, but the motor doesn't seem to have enough internal 'grip' to turn the payout gears. Instead of a jackpot payout, you hear a loud buzzing noise and the motor emits a strong vibration. When this occurs, I must remove the plastic cover the motor is attached to and reset the jackpot see-saw into the "ready" position so that the magnetic sensor is back in the disengaged position.

I think the only solution is replacing the motor and I have not been able to find one via Google (I'm am sort of a "fish out of water" when it comes to electronic things, so I am not exactly sure what I am looking for on Google!). I am hoping that the expertise of this community can help me find something that will work.

Thanks again for the suggestion, Dr.Dark!! Although your suggestion didn't resolve my issue, it taught me something about these machines that will help me in the future!

I thought I would bump this thread up again to see if anyone has any suggestions on where I can find a motor to match the one in the photo. This machine is in pristine condition, all except for the jackpot payout motor. I would really like to get it working if I can.

    Thanks for any help/clues/pointers!!

Well, I sent an email off to the manufacturer of the motor in question to see if they had a replacement I could purchase. I received the following reply that I thought I should share for future reference of other members in this community:

We have explored the motor in question. That exact motor was specially made for the original machine manufacturer and we cannot make it (or any equivalent to it…I checked on that as well). Apparently there is something unique about that motor (whether it’s the gearhead, or the flanges, etc.) that we don’t have on file.

In speaking with our engineers, your best bet is going to be to either contact the maker of the machine directly and see if they still have some of the motors and can sell you one or look for it for sale somewhere online (ebay, pachinko machine message boards, etc.)

Sorry. I wish we could have found a replacement or at least something that would have worked.

It seems like my best option at this point is to find a junked machine that has the same motor. I doub't that Nishijin would still have any parts laying around for a 1990 wing-type Pachinko machine!!

I posed that question back to Nippon, asking them if they had the ability to repair the motor. In a nutshell, they said it would be difficult and costly, but also that those motors seldom break. After describing to them what the symptoms were (listed in my first post within this thread), they suggested that I check the power to make sure the motor is getting the full 24 volts it needs to operate properly. The entire machine lights up and works normally, and this motor works occasionally, so I am now wondering if I could have an inconsistent power flow through the machine.

I am all thumbs when it comes to electrical or electronic stuff, so please tell me how I can verify that the power transformer is working OK (do they wear out?).

    Thanks in advance!!

yes transformers do break or quit working... to test all u will need is a simple volt meter.. plug it in and test the output

Well, with no luck repairing this wing type Marilyn Monroe pachi, my friend is looking to sell it to someone that can fix, or to be used as parts. Overall, the machine is in great condition. The only problem seems to be with the custom jackpot payout motor.

Send me a PM if you are interested in the machine and I would be happy to put you in touch with the seller. (I did tell him that 5% of the sales price goes to PachiTalk).

Based on my experience (as documented in this thread), you would need to find a similar machine and cannibalize it for the parts. There are no spares or parts that can be ordered with the older machines.

Is this machine still for sell? The only trouble with my Monroe is the synchronous motor (hammer motor). I would like to buy his unit for parts.

I have a Nishijin parts machine with the seesaw your looking for. All my parts machines had bad CPU's so everything else is good (I will still test to make sure)

I believe I am also in the market for a 50 Hz synchronous motor for the hammer for my Nishijin Trapeze. Anyone have one?

Not sure if they will have what you need.

I also have one of these machines, but I am going to part it out just haven’t got to it yet.

I will talk to this clock repair guy I know and see if he has any 60 RPM motors that will work.

I need to figure out how I can check if the motor is the problem. It runs but I am assuming its not runnng strong enough as I cannot find anything wrong elsewhere. Checking out the motor is problematic because I don't know the specs it should be - all it says is 50 Hz.

Does 50Hz correlate to 60 RPM?

I don't think the 50Hz is a issue, but the 60 RPM is.

you a may want to also look at

    http://www.atsclock.com/categories/C..._Movements.cfm

for 60 RPM motors, the clock guy I know tells me that over time these motors get weak.
