    Default Pinball MAME

I've been looking into the virtual pinball programs as I'm considering building a virtual pinball table.

I started by downloading Visual pinball and VPinMAME but not had any luck in actually playing a game of pinball. It really seems more trouble than it's worth what with having to download ROMs then tables then the sound, nothing seems to be in the same place and requires lots of searching and even then I can't get it to work.

Does anyone use Visual Pinball and have detailed instructions on how to use it or know of a one stop shop to get the tables?

Or is there a different easier program to use?

it's been a while since i played with vp.but i do remember there were instructions telling where to install each part on your computer.it took me a while to get mine working too.also, some of the games did not work correctly, most did.might be something to do with corrupt roms.

I used to have all this stuff on my laptop 2 or 3 years ago...It was really fun, but I have no idea how I got it to work, it wasn't what I'd call strait forward!!

Yeah, I played them a couple years back and they played pretty well. I was waiting til they could play full size lengthwise to display on a Large LCD Layed out. The programs I played shrunk the screens down and gave a distance effect I didnt want. Im not sure if theres anything new/better out there yet. Mike : )

I've given up on visual pinball. Downloaded Future Pinball!

I'm having a bit more luck with it. At least I can see a table but non of the flipper work all I can do is nudge.

I have a few "adult" pinball games setup on mame32 that work great.

i use 5 key to insert coins and 1 key to start game, then launch balls and use flippers with my usb joystick.

Head over to http://www.vpforums.org you find everything you need to know! Here is a pic of my cabinet almost finished running FP and VPM with Hyperpin. I'm hoping to finish everything by the end of next week! It is actually further along than the photos.

    Nice work devospeed!

I'm desperate to own a pinball machine but just don't have to room for a full size machine. That's why I was going to go the virtual route.

I have a spare pc that doesn't get any use so I was going to use that. What spec pc do you need to get good results from these pinball games? Do you need a fancy graphics card?

I'm using a 3ghz P4 with a ATI X1650 Pro 512MB video card with dual DVI outputs. Its runs FP at almost full. A lot of people are using the Nvida Geforce 8800 GT video card. You will need a decent video card to run FP and some of the newer VPM tables. I also don't have any room for a full size pinball so this is a great alternative! The playfield box on my pinball is the back case from an Aladdin pachislo.

The seed has been sown. Now searching ebay for a cheap graphics card.

I'm going to use the busted King Camel Pachislo for the main cabinet.

Major set back with the pinball project.

Looks like the pc I was going to use doesn't have a PCIe slot for the graphics card.
