The ship with my machines has arrived, and I just picked up my Evangelion 4 pachinko from Hiro. The shipper in Japan made a BIG mistake - they put the cell in a gold Crystella frame! Why they would do that is beyond me! Perhaps they think this stupid American won't know the difference - WRONG! Hiro has requested they send the Eva frame, and estimates it'll take 2 more months for the next ship to arrive. Ah well, at least I can play it, and have something else to look forward to.

The lights and chance button doesn't work on yours either, does it?

I've seen a few frames, maybe they're full of something they like for recycling. I don't know if they used it for anything else either. You'd think there would be a bunch out there.

Funny you should say that... Star Wars 2 is next on the list. I just got an email from Curt at slot-pachinko, and 47 of the 50 he's getting are sold and paid for..

Eva 5 uses the same frame (but also comes in 2 additional colors). I suspect they're reusing the Eva 4 frames for Eva 5.

Considering I sent a picture of what I wanted, and Hiro was even surprised when he unboxed the Crystella frame, it seems they're being stingy about sending the Eva frames over here. It wouldn't hurt to drop him an email to ask if he can get any more though.

Nope - chance button stays lit and does nothing. The lights are all messed up - wrong colors, some segments don't light, etc. It's obvious while the Crystella frame works, this cell is not made for it.

It does make me look forward to getting Star Wars 2 in a Crystella though.

This is correct and I can confirm (at least from a visual standpoint) that they frames are reused for for Version 5.

Even uses the same siren lights and chance button mechanics.

That's really sad... One of my favorite features in Version 5 (and possibly Version 4... though I haven't seen it in play there yet) is the chance button lighting up in bright blue or green during certain "very high" chance reaches.

Heh... Actually that was my last win on Version 5. Blue chance button... Hit and the screen wipes black followed by Misato shouting "Masaka" with the trademark black on white kanji characters (masaka = impossible!). It's a fun, fun way to win.

The Crystella's changes color too, not sure about during reaches, don't see the super premium reaches very often (read - never)
