Although the Star Wars Episode 1 was in super condition throughout, there were a few marks on the interior sides of the cabinet,

I suspect these were mostly caused by having to dismantle it and squeeze the parts into the car for the journey home

However, we have now remedied this easily and quickly by painting the insides using a black paint made by Dulex called Satinwood, which was quick drying and odourless and gave a perfect finish

This was the perfect match for the rest of the pinball and makes it look like new!!

Not sure if the pics came out well but first two show before painting and second two are after

Nice job! Seeing that you are making your machine look all nice how about adding Pincab protectors?

    Pinball Fanatic - PinCab Protectors

I have them on both of my machines here is a pic of the protector on my Punchy the clown leg. Its the Red nylon piece between the leg and cabinet. Is a great protector and makes the leg look more finished.

We were actually talking about installing some nice leg protectors only yesterday...

The P2K cabinet is in super condition with barely any marks where the legs fix but we want to keep it that way and so leg protectors are going to be a 'must buy'

The only dilemma is whether to go for black or the red colour, not sure what shade the red is, if it's a match for the T-molding and flipper buttons then it might be just the colour to go for...

    Decisions, decisions...

Actually, it came with an Original Manual plus a repro manual, also an original Safety Manual and an original Schematics book too,

oh and an unopened spares kit which I believe to be original and some spare plastics, etc etc

I have a feeling that this particular SWE1 has never seen an Arcade??

me neaither i thought up close and personal it was in real good condition didnt realise that it came with slingshots manuals ect usualy the arcade owner oporator has taken all that bunged the plastics in a draw never to surface again and the manual has enginears prints and creases all over it

easyer way to tell is if there is a coin counter attached to the coin mec and count the number of coins that have been through other way is to see if it turns up on the swe1 registory by serial number and how much history they got on it

    Nice addition to the collection!
I like PB2k very cool machines, I like the game play of RFM the different challenge modes are great, I like the martian bar mode the best. Something about hitting a gasoline drinking Martian and having it explode it gratifying.
Shooting the lasers at the fighters is really cool on the SWE1. The cut scenes slow down the game a bit.
I met Chuck H*** and visited his games room and played some pinball with him. Chuck is a (big) part of NuCore He has a "nucored" SWE1 with a 22" lcd monitor, and the pinball doubles as a cool MP3 Jukebox.

The PC in the machine will boot into Linux mode but you have to be able to read upside down and backwards to use it.

If you are ever at a pinball event look for the tall dark haired guy with glasses and a crowd around him, that's Chuck. This guy loves pinball!

SWE1 still running perfectly and still having lots of fun with it

We replaced the CPU Fan and heatsink and also managed to locate a NOS Power Supply, as these are recommended to be replaced in order to prevent the chip overheating and any permanent damage being caused

At first the new Power Supply seemed a bit confusing to install, the wires and connectors seemed different to the way the original PSU was connected, but a couple of emails with the Supplier soon sorted that out, seems we needed to join a couple of the new connectors together to fit into the multi connector on the mother board, really simple in the end!!

(unfortunately that was the last PB2K power supply and I now need to find one for the RFM...)

Pic 1 - The Computer is housed securely in this metal box
Pic 2 - Power Supply inside the housing
Pic 3 - This is where the Power Supply connects to the mother board
Pic 4 - New power supply details
Pic 5 - lots of wires!!

I'll join in here and stress how important it is that the fans are working in the pinball 2000 CPU boxes.

I have a SWP1 that I noticed that the fans were running slow a while ago, I squirted a bit of WD40 into the bearings and they seemed OK. So I wrote down 'replace fans' on my things to get around to do list.

Well that job never quite made it to the top of the list, and I'm now proud owner of a SWP1 with a dead CPU board (have checked by swapping the relevant bits with the ones from my RfM).

Luckily I planned ahead in 2000 and figured a spare CPU board would be a handy thing to have and picked one up while they were still readily available (for what now seems like a bargain price!).

You can be sure I'll be checking the fans much more often now that I don't have a spare CPU board to fall back on.

Wow that would be my worst nightmare, you are really lucky that you have that spare CPU board!!

Everything I read about these PB2K pinballs always mentions the Fans and how important it is to check them and replace them often, and it seems the SWE1 is more prone to fan failure?

I was told my RFM had recently had new cpu fan and power supply replaced but for the sake of not much money, I am replacing both of those, I did manage to track down another SPI-300G AT power supply last night and it will be out to me this week, these older AT type PSU can be hard to find these days, I know you could probably use the newer versions but I like to use the ones I know and are happy to fit ( well I supervise of course )

As for NuCore, I am registered there to keep up with the news etc,

It's an exciting development that should enable these special pinballs to stay alive well into the future, and who knows what other applications or even new pinballs may become available with that software

Nice work pointing out NUCORE, which will finally allow all those non functional pin2k machines to work again.
