HI! A question about my Nishijin_A SingleShot...

HI! Say can anyone tell me what year this is from by this tag?

I see no numbers in the mix of characters to tell like with the Nishijin B models.(first image)


Also... Are the Single Shot models with the round opening(Second pic) older or newer or just random as opposed to the rounded triangle ones?

Well, I pulled downloaded the inspection tags and blew them up but was unable to find a date. I was ALMOST persuaded to believe the 5505 that is stamped with raised dots might be an indicator, but looking at the machine there is no way that date would be correct.

I looked at the rest of the photos in your Album, this is really nice looking machine! As for the dating based on the "opening" that you mention, until we get a full database established and have some comparison capablities, that answer would be just a guess. It does appear that your machine is a newer single shot based on the overall design and the mechanics, but again, that's just a WAG.

Maybe someone else has a machine they have dated that uses the same design.

I half agree with Rusty, the FRONT of the machine looks like it is a newer single shot.

But if you look at the back of the machine, the middle (recycler) ball tray is made of metal, not plastic.

I know it cannot be before 1961 as thats when the "tulip" was created.

Is that right?

It has two pockets of metal and two of plastic. That may be a way to tell if anyone knows.

I have seen some that are for sure from the 50's with all metal pockets just like the ones on this one this one.

Here are a couple more pics. I dont think the red stamped 53 can count for anything. But I do see many more single shot machines with the triangular ovoid shaped hole as opposed to round. I have also noticed the converted models(SingleShot to ball tray) seem to be mostly the round hole type so maybe it is a later type.

Note the hole drilled in the frame in the second pic and the metal bracket(bent) in front of it. It looks to me like it was a part of a centrall ball collection system for that specific parlour.
