    Default Cheap Pachislo Stands

When you have a lot of pachislos (I have 30) you are always looking for cheap stands. I have a bunch of the Target Mudroom tables, but they are no longer available, and 30 of them would still be a sizable investment.

My first cheap stand project was the slot island I made from 3 doors and some metal brackets. There's a pic of it in another thread. It cost under $100 and supports 8 machines.

NOW I HAVE A NEW PERSONAL RECORD for the least expensive way to support pachislos. I built a wall shelf using 1/2 of a set of 36" flush bi-fold closet doors (each door is 18"). They cost $25 a pair, so 1 is $12.50. Actually, mine was free because it was left over from another project where I used the other half.

Then I used 5 of the following brackets:

    http://www.johnsterling.com/maxbrackets.htm

I used the 16" bracket (it's really 15.5" but they call it a 16" bracket). You can find them at Homedepot. I mounted them 16" on center, so all five go into studs. They will hold 1000 lbs a pair, so 5 should be good for 2500 lbs.

The brackets are about 6 bucks. So the total cost of the complete shelf is about $45.00, including some lag bolts to mount the brackets, and it will support 4 machines.

Another problem with so many machines is space. An advantage of this suspended shelf is that the stools (I use backless 24" Walmart stools) will slide under the shelf, giving you more walking around room. It seems like a trivial matter, but the difference in made in the feel of space in the room was pretty dramatic.

:smt119 WOW!!!!!! :smt119 I'm amazed when I see pics of the "toy rooms" some of you guys have set up! I'm limited on space, since I've only got about a 900sq ft condo, but I have considered turning my kitchen table (unused) into a game table...but nothing QUITE as dramatic as I've seen on here!

Darn, but I LOVE that game room!!! Thanks for putting it here! 8-) You did a great job on the stands, etc. Gives one lots of ideas and gets one to spend more $$$ than intended.

Gary, let me see... we're looking at a ??? then a Spin Luck, then a Dragon Dice and then a Cont 4x? Is that right?

Now, in the back, you need this machine. What the heck you only live once!

Fever Queen, Spin Luck, Dragon Dice, Neo Planet.

But that's an old picture. Now it's: Dance Night, Spin Luck, Dragon Dice, and later this week a Bull Dog will be at the end. So the entire row will be IGT machines.

Thanks for the link. But the nice thing about pachislos is all of mine put together only cost a fraction of that pinball. Plus, a lot of my friends have pinball machines - none of them come close to having a casino in their basement.

Thought y'all might be interested in hearing this, as it's a minimal expense setup.
I went to Menards and bought 2 kitchen type countertop sections (approx $10 each, out of a clearance bin in the back of the store). 4'L X 2'D including backsplash, but ends aren't finished. So I've decided that I'm going to take a board approximately 1" X 2" X up to 4', and run it between the backsplashes (placing countertops back to back), and run velcro along the board, and backsplashes to keep it all together....the board is because if you look at the backsplash, you'll see that there'd be a gap of about 1" because the rear ends aren't cut flush.
Next, I'm going to put some large velcro squares (what maybe another $10?) under the counters, and place a piece of plywood/particle board (another $10) under the setup, something along the lines of 40" X 40", and attach velcro to this and the underside of counters, so it keeps the counters from breaking apart if I don't want them to.
Finally, under the plywood will be a 4 small blocks (CHEAP), screwed into the plywood around the edges of the table and a non-skid rubber pad (let's call it $10 to keep it even) of some sort, to keep the whole mess from sliding off my small-ish kitchen table...I'm debating on getting something to put under the table, as extra support, and maybe putting a skirting around the table, but not definite yet.
This will hold my 4 machines, break down to the original parts, work with existing kitchen chairs (and save me BIG money on buying new chairs to go with the toys!) and total cost will be around $50. I'll try to post pics as I build this, plus pics of finished product with all machines in question on it.

i hope you have a strong kitchen table.

four machines and the top you are making will weight 400 pounds with the tokens added.

Sounds like a great plan, Kelly! I like the idea of getting those pieces of countertop from Menards, too. I noted that you could pick them up very cheaply and they'll look good and finished when you you get it all completed.

Don't forget the pics as you go along. Looking forward to watching! 8-)

Yep, that's why I'm considering what I want to do in addition to the table, just for extra support...also why the plywood underneath, to distribute the weight a little better. I'm considering cinder blocks, since if I put skirting under the edge, you'd never see them...and there'd be a bit of storage underneath too....hmm, it just gets better and better!

Only problem there is that you have to get what they've got left over in inventory. I got sorta lucky...I got a deep blue that matches couch and recliner, and a deep green that goes well with the rest.

i bought a cheap black desk from walmart on line, under 30.00 delivered.

then i put 4 angle brackets for extra support and an extra piece of wood under the top and a 1" by 4" bracing the sides from the back.

two machines fit nicely on it and it looks good..

Got a pic of that unit. If you can get 2 Pachi's on there and it's only $30...that's a true bargain!

Okay, after much debating and consideration....I've come to the conclusion that the table-top stand isn't going to work. I simply don't have that much floor space available right now. I also considered bolting the countertops as shelves against the walls, HOWEVER...the only wallspace I have for that is a) adjoining the neighbor's condo and b) against my son's bedroom wall. So that's on the "not happening unless we can dampen noise" list. I AM considering, however....buying some cabinets (like bathroom/kitchen lower cabinets) and attach the counter tops...I might still be able to bolt those to the wall (cabinets instead of counters themselves) , but I first need to figure out if there's a way to partially muffle the sound of the hopper spitting out the winnings. I'm trying to reduce how far it travels thru walls so I don't tick off my neighbors or have my son whine that I kept him up all night (again). Any ideas of sound absorbing foam backing or something else that I might be able to put against a wall behind these?
I still want to use counter tops.....each will support 2 machines, and thus can be put at different locations around the room instead of all in one space.
