    Ian, Welcome to Pachitalk!

Did you perform a game reset? Did you get keys?

There are two more connections to check but you have to remove the LCD screen and take it apart.

If the seller is willing to fix or replace the machine I would opt for that. It's your call if you want to check this.

The pictures below show the frame of the LCD coming apart. The 4th Pic with the 2 white arrows are the connections I speak of. Out of the two I would guess that if this is where the problem is, it's the smaller gold ribbon cable that's giving you the problem.

the only problem with taking the lcd apart is dust getting in between the layers. at least for me it was.

How do you go about repairing the gold ribbon cable if it is the damaged component?

Thanks for your posts, ive found out that if i pull out the left connection (white thin with about 20 fine wires) on the lower left side of the graphic card i can almost see the animations if i take it out and put it in halveway its a short cabel that goes into the right lower side of the card with the same connection ,im not sure what this is telling me any ideas?,at the moment with it halve in i can see movement on the screen (box shapes), i look forward to any ideas.

9 out of 10 times the fault with these are at the connection points. Being this one is inside of the frame and is not "Flexed" at all the runs on it should not break.

If a run should break you can make a repair by carefully scraping the varnish off of the run a length of about 1/2 inch from each side of the break. Put a little flux on the run and lay 3 or 4 fine wires across the break on the exposed run.

Heat with a solder iron and flow a small bit of fine solder to the run and fine wires. Just enough to flow solder in the repair area.

As long as you did not expose any of the other runs, the solder will not flow to them and short out the ribbon.
