I am not sure if Grounding a wire has the same affect as an amp wire would, but you could tape a bare end wire to the motor where you touched it and then fasten the other end to a ground somewhere...maybe the screw that is holding the wall socket plate on, or, just hold the other end in your hand and see if that allows the shooter to run. Hopefully Daverob can step in and tell you exactly what your looking for as far as drawing the necessary amps for the machine to know you are holding the shooter knob.

Hey YJ, No luck...It must be an amp problem vs a ground?

Anyone know how to properly remove the shooter from this type of machine?

Yeah, but i don't understand the "tube in front" description, any help? Nothing in back but the cell and frame. Perhaps I would have to take apart the cell?

tip the machine on it's back so you can look at the bottom of the knob. you'll find one or two screws there that will release the knob assy. from the shaft that feeds through the frt. of the machine.

Thanks BB, you were correct! Here is the photo of the shooter, should I take it apart further OR should the wire be attached to the shaft?

so where do the yellow wires run to? If not the touch ring then where? Looks like it may be a switch?

If you touch the back of the motor, does it work without turning the shooter knob? Maybe just a ground is needed for the motor.

The Yellow wire runs to the front of the motor connecting to a brass plate. (see photo)
I THINK that the plate should touch the shooter shaft, but I really don't know!!!
The motor only turns when I touch the back of it and the shooter ring at the same time. I tried an open wire from the motor to an outlet ground and had no consistent luck with that either.
Is this a weird problem or what ???

Brass plate looks oxidized...can you clean it? Maybe that will do the trick.

I used a little sand paper after the picture was taken. Is that ok to use or what would you suggest?

Steel wool is a great idea. Also, See if the plate should be making contact with anything else...the knob shaft, cabinet, another wire. Whatever.

Hope that helps. It's probably the simplest thing that can cause this.

is there some way this looks like it should happen? Try a wire from the back of the motor to any metal part on the frame (lock or locking mechanism)

Yes, the brass piece is touching the shaft of the shooter. Now that I got everything cleaned and reassembled, nothing works! Every time I turn the shooter now, all the lights and LEDs turn off!!! There is a strange sound coming from the payout motor and the pitch changes when I turn the shooter. Could this all be a power supply problem?
Please help or Wonder Land will soon face my wrath!!!

Well, I just saw the light ...No, it's not working, but a spark from the transformer...GAME OVER

So I guess my new question is on transformers. This one says, 120v 60Htz

If I hook up one of my modern transformers, could I damage the machine?

Compirate, maybe we could start a pachi exchange program I hear you like driving Theses poor machines need to get out and see the country

everything you mentioned in your posts was indicative of a bad transformer .especially if the motor tried to engage and the lights dimmed or went out . replace the transformer with a 5 amp and you probably will have no problems with it afterward .

just make sure its 120 ac in 24 volt ac out and at least 5 amp out put and be careful of the hook up or youll be putting 480 into the machine and blue smoke out of it . the thinner wires are the input 120 volt side 0.5 amp input and the thicker wires are the 24 volt side 5 amp output .(most not all have black and white for the 120 volt side and the same color black or brown for the 24 volt side ) either way unplug the machine first and above all be careful .Always treat it like its hot even when its not plugged in and you cant go wrong !!!
