What To Start With? HyperPassion / The Professor

Hello Everyone,

Last evening whilst I was resting (finally) my wife arrived home after work to discover a large and ominous monolithic cardboard covered object blocking the entrance to our home. She wrestled the behemoth object inside without assistance as not to disturb my rare and unusual uninterrupted sleep - keep in mind that Mrs. Shocksystem is "fun size" and the object was better than half her weight and height.

She, also being smart, chose not to alert me to the new found treasure, as I would probably not have continued to sleep (some how necessary) and my have even become as out of control as an ADD grade school child loaded full of coffee, candy and crack.

I awoke in time to make ready for work and was informed of the new found ominous intruder only at such a time that I would be unable to poke at it or think about messing with it as I had to report for work - The suspense would have to continue.

I have unpacked James Bond and it looks good! Needs a little cleaning. I have checked It over and then fired it up - A quick boot up time and BAM! I was looking at James Bond movie clips and flashing lights (some on the right side of he frame are burned out (I'll call the vendor about this). I loaded some balls and started playing - The launcher is a little strange to me, but I have all vintage machines and I'm used to things being more "tactile". I quickly found myself enjoying the action, spinning reels on the digital display (very clear and bright), flashing background patterns.

I do have a problem hearing the machine though. I may have to find a way to turn up the volume for the sound effects and music.

Yes! I'm totally kidding. The first time I hit a pocket was rather jarring even after the warning I had from PachiTalk members!

I found a sound level setting switch that has three positions and tried it. Apparently the settings are; Straight Pipe Harley next to your Head, Top Fuel Dragster and 747 at Take Off.

Interesting Update,

After playing the newly introduced James Bond machine, my wife asked me when I was going to order a machine for her and a companion to this one! So HyperPassion and the Professor are still on the board as possibilities. I want to see if I can find some other themes as well. She had already ordered an additional 500 balls (and is scouting out more deals) - and as we both discovered they will be needed for the modern type machines.

After discovering a "fever" I spent some time loading balls into the upper hopper from the payout tray so that the machine could finish out its payout cycle.

Yes indeed. I discovered that you must be in contact with a metal ring at the base of the strange "door knob" handle in order for the machine to launch spheres. It was a little troubling at first when I plugged the machine in, turned it on, twisted the handle and discovered... Ta Daaa! Nothing. My wife had that look; you just bought a super flashy light up blinking thing that does absolutely nothing huh?

Yes. I was a little disappointed at first - but after a phone call, replacement bulbs will be sent by Kurt.

Thats good about the Lamps. Whats cool about the Lumina Frame is that there is a whole bunch of Cells (Games ) to change out of this frame

you are goin to enjoy this machine. everytime i play mine i see something new. there is all kinds of music on this machine. lots of vid clips. reaches. very cool machine.

Just as I started to ask a question about a feature I found - A certain little black button in the upper left corner of the audio section on the back of the machine I found the answer (sort of) by combing the site. This game has a real time clock maintained by a battery for the on board computer that can be used to activate enhanced features during certain times (Almighty Mode...Oooohh!). Of course now I want to know about this feature but there is very little information about it. It also has been the peril of at least one machines classic mode capability and I have read the warnings as not to touch it. I hope sometime in the future we can track down the settings for these features. I would love to use all of the features this machine has!

I am now looking for a way to install a volume control. I want to put a trim pot in before the amp so I don't have to install high wattage pots or L-Pads to quiet the machine to a tolerable sound level. This should also lower the sound distortion level and power consumption / heat, as the amp would do far less work... plus I wont have to wear ear plugs to play my new machine!

I fit a L-pad to mine and it works great. Could be difficult to fit anything before the amp, but if anyone can do it I'm sure you can.
