What To Start With? HyperPassion / The Professor

If anyone knows, it's Daverob...he knows more about these Lumina cells than most Sankyo employees. But I don't think anyone's really done the pre-amp pot mod yet. If you find out anything, I'd love to hear it. I would like to add an audio out/headphone jack to mine.

I'm poking around tentatively to see what connections are do what, and go where in the back of the machine. I admit I haven't spent very much time on it - work has been very busy for me.

I just don't see adding an L-Pad as a "completed" solution. It means that the amp is still operating at full output, using max power and generating heat and distortion. If I'm going to have to tinker with soldering connections I'd like to find the amps input rather than output. It just seems better to me. I've been trying to spend some time reading other threads addressing sound output / volume controls. If I find a solution I will be sure to post!

My guess is that the pre amp stage is on the same board as the amp...so it would involve finding the right traces and cutting them.
But there are a lot of cool things to do if this was an easy/universal mod, eh? It would be nice to be able to switch them all into to a powerful amp and better speakers...especially a game like Maharaja!
