Default What's the going rate for a Ball Lifter?

I was thinking of having a go at constructing my own Ball Lifter.
Before I start I want to know if the project will be cost effective.
How much does a Ball Lifter cost to buy?

Thanks mudfud. I had a feeling they'd be around that amount. I think I will have a go a making one myself.

I think making one is something that most of us fantasize about at one time or another. I've had all kinds of ideas, done drawings, searched youtube (some great marble moving machines), but ultimately I bought a used one from compirate (he has some a little cheaper that survived arby's flood, so rusty/dirty and need an up tube - the one I posted video of)

the closest thing i've seen that might work was someone (birdbrain?) that made a scalloped wheel like on the silver ball lifter. don't know if that got finished or not.

I planned to use archimedes' screw, as moscheste posted, and bought parts, but lost momentum. I have 3 motors geared down to about 60rpm and 3 long springs that I thought could act as a spiral track to run the balls up. maybe i'll get to it someday when I feel really creative. my thought is that it will be hard to make something like the long spiral that won't jam. probably the scalloped wheel is best (why reinvent the wheel, eh?)

let us know how it goes. we're always interested in low cost ball lifter ideas.

It was seeing birdbrain's design that gave me the inspiration. I've tracked down a suitable motor so I think I'll give it a go. I'll post the results if I'm successful.

ttc - I really liked that marble pump, too. maybe if I was setup for more precise milling and such I would give it a try. notice he has a bit of slip in the drive, too, for when it jammed. clearly, he worked on this for awhile. I love his craftsmanship on the marble machines. did you see the one with the ferris wheels that gear together and lift the balls? I considered that as a ball lifter idea, too.

None of this makes any sense to me but if anyone understands it, it might help with designing a ball lifter.

in the pictures, it's for a single ball at a time on a pinball machine with a pachinko like backglass

I couldn't see any of the pictures. I saw "screw type" , "ball lifter" and "vertical play field" so I thought it might be usefull. oh well.

I bought a case of motors for a rotisserie (we were also trying to do this but with moving and new job time just didnt present itself). They are pretty quiet was even thinking of a curio cabinet setup for fancy figurenes. Again didnt quite make it to the finished phase. They use the standard square stock as a shaft easy to find
